  • A self developed Holga shot / A broom / A mannequin minus a nose I fail to see what else I could have done to improve this.

  • Silence Lane / I love cemeteries. / For some people, cemeteries are places of dread. For me, they are places of wonderful quiet and peace. A place of resting, whatever your religion, if any. Memories wrapped in stone and tree shadows. A place to reflect, and wonder about life. Perhaps our lives are just perfect – loved ones all around, financial independence; maybe fame and fortune. / In the end, we all wind up here. / / One life, one chance to feel good about it. / My rules for photography and art are very simple – I like it, or I don’t… / / Thanks for visiting my folio :) / I certainly appreciate your taking time to view what I’ve been up to, and enjoy reading your comments. / / / / Writings (or ramblings) / Come, Dark / Chandelier Brain / Eat Me / The 10th / You’re Strange, Rick / Ever-Queen / Sleeping / Beauty / The Black, White & Grey / / / / Hope / / / One / / / Reap what you Sow / / / Trust / / / Directions / / / Unconditional Love / / / The Long Road / / / Silence Lane

  • I managed to put together a home made lightbox, and this is the first proper result I’ve had with it (it’s a composition, of course).

  • The sand dunes at Mesquite Flats, just outside Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park. Having spent the night sleeping on a park bench at the camp ground outside Furnace Creek, I raced up here ahead of the sunrise for a nice 5.30am photoshoot to make the most of the early light. I love how low horizontal sunlight brings out the texture in the dunes- by 8am this place is pretty much a washout, but I had a good sixty minutes of gorgeous tones and contrast… and yes, left my tracks all over the sand. Another spot I can’t wait to head back to someday. May 2007.

  • A very colourful graveyard in the market town of chichicastenang, Guatemala.

  • Image of a mausoleum door in a cemetery in Prague. This is an early morning HDR image, multiple bracketed exposures merged into one. The colors and lighting on the doors were just fantastic. I also like the barely visible Numbers 88 and 89 on each side of the doors. The almost brandnew padlock sticks out like a sore thumb, so does the weed in the lower right corner by the door. It’s amazing how much more detail you find when you really look at an image for awhile. HDR Images / Prague Images / Aviation Related Images

  • I’ve always loved Margaret Widdemer’s poem, “The Watcher.” I’ve coupled it with an image I took of a steeple of a very old church in Houston, Texas. I hope that those who have suffered the loss of a mother will find comfort in this photo. My mother is still alive and I am grateful for her; I created this image for those whose mothers are no longer with them and who suffer loneliness, especially during the holidays and on birthdays and anniversaries of death.

  • At dawn, a cross can be seen, reaching over the tomb or sorrows. Yet it is a new day, and with the dawn comes, light and tranquility.

  • I walked away asking myself three questions why, who and when… Taken at “Lawson/Bullaburra, Blue Mountains NSW

  • Captured at a old Pioneer Cemetery outside of Central City, Colorado…..lemme tell ya, this place is the REAL: deal, you expect to see Clint Eastwood outta the movie Pale Rider come through any second. Quite spooky and also, it is an area that just kinda puts ya in a time warp….. Thoughts welcomed!

  • A recognizable symbol made up of other recognizable symbols, proudly displaying your support of death in the name of faith.

  • This is an image taken on the snowy road between Brasov & Sinaia in Romania. I realize that the image is blurred (I was taking photos from the car as our driver was taking us to the airport to return home) but I feel that it adds an element to the image .. almost ethereal … Image is untouched except for cropping … Camera Info: Sony FD97

  • The Angel of the North probably one of the most photographed works of public art in the north of England if not the country as a whole. I felt it required a fresh view and as Easter was fast approaching and the word Angel being Hebrew for messenger I thought an artistic take would be to re-create the crucifixion scene for a modern day audience. This is three images combined to make this scene.

  • Another shot taken at the Mount Barker cemetary. Located in the Adelaide holls in South Australia. /

  • This image has been up before but due to request i have now increased its size. Hecate is most commonly known as the goddess of witchcraft, but she also has many other symbols and meaning and her history dates back to Turkey before being addopted by the Greeks. Hecate is always seen carrying a lamp or touch as she is linked to seeing the dead into Haydes, and its this link with the lost that links her with cross-roads. She is also linked with all things that come out at night but only the wolf is portrayed with her at all times, but owls, wild boar, bats, snakes, pumpkins and black dogs can also be linked to her.

  • Thank you for looking. Sincere thanks to my dear fellow bubbler Sally Omar. Sally has been inspired and of which I am so grateful by this image ….. He came with a purpose / His Love Divine / Saved souls / Yours and mine / His love like a sweet fragrance / That flows in the day / Of roses and lilacs / Coming our way / His strength was like an Oak / A huge standing tree / His love so powerful / For you and me / He grew into a man / Reminding us all / That the Father was watching / He had to answer His call / Punished and beaten / At only thirty-three / Hung on a Cross / How can that be? / A thorn of crowns / Put on his head / Blood running down his face / And he still said / He forgave all the evil / That brought him to that place / The pain showed / In Sweet Jesus’ face / When I think of this / My heart skips a beat / Thinking of the nails / In His hands and His feet / Suffering and dying / For our sins / I still don’t fully understand / How this could have been / Didn’t his captors / See the grace in His eyes / Sweet Jesus sacrified all / For our sins and our lies / When I think of this picture / I really wish / That I was there / To have given Sweet Jesus a Kiss / LOVE DIVINE You have a big heart Sally & it’s made of pure gold! As are your words which give such life to the image. Thank you. Love, hugs & blessings to you and yours xx♥xx

  • I was so moved while making this piece that I began to cry as my heart and mind thought of everything that He went through and still pressed on just for you and me.

  • a photo of my gold necklace and set up for different lighting…....came out real good so hope you enjoy it.

  • A powerful and bold sky above the old section of the Millicent Cemetery. The work and effort put into the headstones in these days is a testament to the love, honour and memories of those passed and those left behind. Canon 400D, 3 shot HDR, converted in Photomatix and tones altered in Photoshop.

  • When time has come and death is near / They show their strength and hide their fear / They share a joke, then shed a tear / Last moments spent with those held dear / / As grasp released on life held tight / And darkness falls, as though the night / Then soon replaced by something bright / Freed soul now moves into the light / / As toward the light they do ascend / They understand, they comprehend / It’s just begun, it’s not the end / Forever does their life extend / / This fractal artwork was inspired one night while watching a show on the television called ‘Ghost Whisperer’, where a woman is able to communicate with earthbound souls and help them ‘cross over to the other side’. As is the case in many near death experiences, the folks that die for a few moments and then come back describe going towards a beautiful light. / / I am not really a very religious person, however, I do believe that there is something much greater than us all in the grand scheme of things in the universe. In physics, the law of conservation of energy states that the total amount of energy in an isolated system remains constant. A consequence of this law is that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only changed in form. Seeing as how humans are basically a large network of electricity and magnetism (energy) housed within our bodies (matter), and given the physics law stated above, then this energy that makes us what we are can not die, but only change form. / / So what many may term as our souls (energy) must move on as another form of energy. So someone that dies for a moment and them makes it back saying that they see this light may not be as far-fetched as a lot of folks think… even from the scientific perspective. / / This fractal artwork was created in Apophysis, and is meant to conceptually portray what that light may look like as we move toward it after our physical demise, that portal where our life energy is converted into another form. The original is 3600 pixels square at 300 pixels per inch and took 51 hours and 22 minutes to render on a 3.2 Ghz PC with 4 GB of RAM. These technical details so you can appreciate how detailed the print is. / /

  • Major Arcana Tarot Cards / Card No.13 / DEATH

  • The Lord thirsts for our love, for our companionship, for our presence. May we give Him a drink of cold water on this Good Friday as we commemorate and appreciate the greatest act of love in the history of the world.

  • Medium: Acrylic Paint on Acrylic Paper / Size: 12” x 16” / Description: Based on the fourth song on the Tool album of the same name, 10,000 Days is the second part of the Wings For Marie set. It was completed in early 2009. Because the song itself is surrounded in so much personal meaning to the singer, the piece was trick to approach. I wanted to try to convey something that was respectful and tasteful. The song is about the singer’s dead mother who, suffering from a long standing illness that left her wheel chair bound for 26 years (10,000 Days), was a devout Christian. The singer himself is an atheist and expresses his hope that he is wrong and that there is an after life, there is a heaven and that his mother deserved wings for what she went through. In my piece, I depict the Christian view of Death but instead, he is a psychopomp, a run of the mill ferry man of souls. I wanted to show a visual representation of what the singer was hoping for. A being, waiting for his mother in the after life, to take her up to heaven. Contact me at lloydharvey[at]shrunkenheaddesign.co.uk / www.shrunkenheaddesign.co.uk
