  • In 2000 I lived in this little town on the north coast of Nova Scotia, Canada called Malagash. It was basically a holiday town and I was there during Christmas so it was all but deserted except for about 75 inhabitance who live there all year round, spread over a space the size of Toronto (for those who don’t know Toronto that’s a BIG space). My nearest neighbor was about 1km away. Due to the harsh winter elements a lot of the older abandoned houses were deteriorating, collapsing from rot in their structures over the years and it made for some pretty creepy/crooked subject matter, the above house being a case in point. There were a number of houses like this but unfortunately at the time I only had a pretty crappy camera (non-digital at that!) and was only able to salvage a small number of images. Hopefully with some photoshop work I’ll be able to upload a couple more in the future. This image I once used as a Happy Housewarming card for a friend – I think they thought I was trying to curse them :o)

  • No better place for a crook to hide out in, / still / it was either going to be me or him, / and I have the gun. Thankyou to Wen for modelling and to Chris for lighting work. Back Alley Atelier

  • Well, this has taken me a little while to put together… Maybe some of you have noticed I haven’t added anything in a while…, maybe you haven’t.. Anyways, this is one of the most musically influenced peices I have made.. I see it as a collection of different versus from very different songs. Song 1 – Death Cab for Cutie – Crooked Teeth / Song 2 – Thursday – War all the Time. Maye you see it as the battle your mouth endures everyday… The bombers are the toothpaste, killing all the plaque and tartar (the deposit from wines, potassium bitartrate)..or vise versa… The bombers are the Plaque and Tartar ruining your teeth every day without brushing. Either way, I hope you can find something in this to like. / / Enjoi!

  • Hi With living and growing up in Ireland for the best part of 30 years i was always told that England was lush with greens all over the countryside. Now that i reside in Lancashire i have seen this to be true. I have spent the last 2 years travelling around the UK on a purpose to document my travels through pictures and on my travels, i decided to put together a portfolio called Roaming England. This portfolio is based only on the English Countryside and displayed in full colour, after all, the English Countryside is saturated with lush greens, yellows, reds and of course deep blue skies ( well on a good day anyway lol ) :) So my journey was to document my perspective of the English Countryside through my own eye’s and interputation! This is what the English Countryside offers me. The stories growing up have come true to life, right before my very eye’s, for me to capture, to keep for life and to share with others….. ........this is my view on the English Countryside. / ............................................................................................................................................ Camera settings > Exposure time >> 1/30sec Tripod mounted / Aperture >> F/9 / Focal length >> 29mm / ISO >> 200 / EV >> – 0.7 It was shot in RAW and later converted in Photoshop CS2. Adjustments made were Levels, Curves, Hue/Saturation and finaly Reduce Noise. It was then saved as a Tiff file for storage and a JPEG for uploading here. Many thanks for taking the time to look and read about how this work was made. Stevie Location :: Crook ’ o ’ Lune, Lancashire.

  • The old beech tree with its crooked branches and the straight conifers make for a nice contrast on this picture, I find. And the misty atmosphere makes me look forward to the great days of October! Taken last year near Laage Vuursche in the Netherlands. • In the main street of our town is a little old cottage, which has crooked windows and seems to be sinking away into the ground – I love it. Textures added in Photoshop. Taken with Ricoh GRII compact. This image featured in The Compact Group in June 2009. Thank you so much! And featured again in the group Cottage Style in July 2009. Again, many thanks!

  • This is a lake down the street from my home. There’s very little movement in the water and it gets overgrown with lily pads. It’s a wonderful area for all the local water fowl and pond life. Large amounts of fresh water mussels are produced in this pond which attract a lot of animals. Today I saw a huge heron sitting on the other side of the lake. It was too far away for my camera lens but my neighbor mentioned it was in my yard earlier this morning when I was out. All of the beautiful Fall colors have not fully arrived in Northern New Jersey yet but some areas change over early like Hopper’s Crooked Pond, Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. © jc warburton 09, Nikon D90,Nikkor 18-200mm 1:3.5 – 5.6 VR lens.
