Spring can offer the nature lover and the photographer some wonderful opportunities after a long dull Winter. I saw this amazing display of Spring crocus in full bloom in the grounds of Dartington Hall, near Totnes in Devon and just had to get a few frame-filling shots of them. With the tripod set very low and a small aperture to maximise the depth of detail, this is one of the shots I managed. these small crocus are blooming right now in my yard, i shot this macro laying on ground to give an idea of just how tall they really are, im lucky enough to have four different colors growing in the same area :) / i shot this using a Nikon Diopter lens attached to a Canon 75-300mm lens

I use a Canon XSi DSLR. I use using a 75mm lens for this. These flowers are just starting to come up. It is great to see flowers after a long Colorado winter. /

for some reason..this shot of the crocus that were growing in my yard last week, is one of my personal favs, something about it is so promising that this year we might just have a good spring / i shot this macro laying on ground (again) using a nikon diopter lens attached to a canon 75-300mm lens

BEST VIEWED FULL SIZE! A belly-shot of the crocus in our sunny front yard, Saturday. The good news is, they’re still there .. the bad news is … has something happened to all the bunnies and the deer who usually chomp these flowers off at the stem every spring?? Well … maybe they just decided to raid someone else’s pantry – garden this year!!!! Image taken March 22, 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 60mm Nikon macro lens. Shutter 1/60, aperture f22.0, exposure -0.33, iso 200. The crocus blossom is approximately 2 inches top to bottom.

this is a crocus that is growing in my yard right now, we have had some pretty warm temps for february around here and some of my crocus’ are blooming, this little flower only stands about 4 to 6 inches tall, i shot this macro literally laying on the ground to give an idea of just how tall it really is, i shot this using a nikon diopter lens attached to a canon 75-300mm lens, also..this is dedicated to Gisele since she is stuck with nothing but snow and needs a flower fix :) so Gisele this is for you

Growing in my front garden. / I used my Omax Close Up Lenses, a bargain off ebay, attached to the Kit lens. Shot in Raw, with very little processing done, except to make the background darker. Best Viewed Large. Thanks for looking. / Hope you like it.

As I left home this morning to go and wish my Mum a Happy Mothers Day i glanced around my garden and these beautiful crocuses caught my eye as the sun lit up the petals and their happy faces opened and soaked up the brief warm sunshine….....
