Taken recently in the Top-end as the cycle of seasons turn and the billabongs begin to become replenished again. After the long hot thristy haul of the dry and early build-up, life of all types accelerates at an incredible rate as to make the most of the growing season once again . / It looks idyllic – but don’t get too close ! standing here for this composition I could hear the ‘chirps’ of a nest of baby crocodiles only meters away..having earlier watched a croc take a file snake near by… A buzz of natural activity ! including all other forms such as mozzies, midgies…you name it – it wants a piece of you! / / / rotating drum lens camera 130deg. field – no cropping, no stitching. While on our way to Litchfield Falls in NT, we decided to do the Jumping Crocodile Cruise which was fantastic. Not only did they feed the Crocodiles but also the Kites on our return to port. I had this vision of one against the other and came up with this just for a bit of fun.

100% of proceeds received from Redbubble in respect to sales of this item, will be donated to Bush Heritage Australia Photo of a large freshwater crocodile (Crocdylus Johnstoni) taken while slowly drifting through Cobbold Gorge in far north Queensland, Australia. These crocs are not considered overly dangerous, unlike the saltwater croc that will, if given half a chance, have you for dinner. You still need to be alert as they can give you quite a mauling. / As the freshwater croc lives on frogs, fish and shrimp you should not drag a finger through the water if in a small boat, as they are capable of performing a swift, painful amputation of the offending finger. Cheers

...of two crocodiles, originally taken in a restaurant window in Newtown. They stood out so I upped the contrast heavily to isolate them and blacked out all other distracting bits. Look at how small their braincases are – yet they manage quite well, thank you.
Australian Estuarine Crocodiles “Salties”.... truly fearsome creatures to me. / I spent 2 years living in Darwin convinced that my Husband would be eaten by one…. he likes to fish from the riverbank…... luckily he saw the sense in not doing this while we lived there. These crocs were in captivity so I was quite safe….. but some people insist on putting themselves in danger with crocs in the wild. Check this out and moments later [canon 10000D] Featured – Dimensions group – June 2009
