..usually nocturnal, this mother and baby possum were setting the cockatoos off screeching one afternoon in the gum trees…I love catching a glimpse of the local nocturnal wildlife (which i usually only hear go bump in the night!!) The Comma (Nymphalis c-album) is a species of butterfly, common in the United Kingdom and with a distribution across Europe and temperate Asia to Japan and south to Morocco. Similar species are found in the United States and Canada. It has a white marking on its underwings resembling a comma. 10/2/09 ~ Featured in Squirrels and Chipmunks ~ Thank you ♥ / Chippy is still stocking up…. he usually disappears in early November so he has about 6 weeks til hibernation! This was taken the evening of 9/20/09 on my back porch. His fur looked so soft and pretty. I added a few acorns that just began falling from our oak trees. My granddaughter, Lilly, was wondering if she could take this rescued opossum baby back to California with her. I had to tube feed it and its siblings, so she left it with me in NC. It was released in the wild.
