Yearling black baer cub seperated from its mama by tourist.I got the tourist parted an him back on his way to mama. I had a portable police scanner tuned to the park system and bluffed everyone into thinking I was with the park. My shot was made from the edge of the lane I created for him to walk to the other side of the road. What some tourist don’t realize Mama might come lookin for him which was to there backs. Just because some bears in parks seem aproachable doesn’t mean they want attack unexpectedly.
Io moth.
living wild above the village of Saas Fee, a wonderful place in the Swiss Alps, this little marmot enjoys a piece of carrot to gain enough weight for the long winter sleep.

This Robin landed in a tree near my back deck, mostly I just see them on the ground. I was happy to get this photo.
views: 433 / favs: 15 Image straight from the camera. Taken on January 11, 2009 with an Olympus FE-340 It was the first day of the year that the weather in London was beautiful so I spent the day outdoor walking through the parks, and the squirrels are very friendly. This particular shot was in Green Park. While I was trying to set-up my camera to take a photo, this little guy suddenly climbed up my leg! (I missed the opportunity to take its picture while it was there) I looked down at it, and it looks to the side as though saying “I didn’t do anything…” (see image in first comment), then it runs behind me and tries to climb up my knapsack; then runs in front me, spirals up the pole and pokes its head to the side going “Peek-a-boo!” After it climbed down I brought my hand out. It grabbed my finger for a little while, but took off before I could get a picture then :-( ... But atleast I captured the funny Peek-a-boo moment! The light and dark areas in the eye may look like the iris and the sclera of the eye, but that is actually caused by reflections; The dark bit at the bottom left corner of the eye is a reflection of myself with the camera:

During the course of the day, I have discovered that Masaman is indeed a male. This is how he prefers to rest… and he does durn little of that… so I try to appease him in any way I can. Thanks to all the RedBubblers that have offered some great advice in getting him healthy and strong so that he can live a normal little squirrel life. LavenderMoon~ /
Another shot of Masaman in his little hand towel. LavenderMoon~
This is one of the last photos I took of Masaman. Taken yesterday, as he slept in my hands, all curled up in an old towel. He was happy and content in his towel, as long as he was being held. Very early this morning, he lost his tough little battle to survive in this too harsh world. The tears won’t stop coming. I will miss him and his fiesty little self for a long time to come. The presence of him and his little siblings in my front yard has made for one of the best spring times I have ever known. It’s been a long time since I was this heartbroken… LavenderMoon~

The Comma (Nymphalis c-album) is a species of butterfly, common in the United Kingdom and with a distribution across Europe and temperate Asia to Japan and south to Morocco. Similar species are found in the United States and Canada. It has a white marking on its underwings resembling a comma. The wings have a distinctive ragged edge, apparently a cryptic form as the butterfly resembles a fallen leaf. Nikon D80 – Sigma 105 DG Macro lens at f/5.6
10/2/09 ~ Featured in Squirrels and Chipmunks ~ Thank you ♥ / Chippy is still stocking up…. he usually disappears in early November so he has about 6 weeks til hibernation! This was taken the evening of 9/20/09 on my back porch. His fur looked so soft and pretty. I added a few acorns that just began falling from our oak trees.
