Ok , so yeah…....... I rant and rave all the time about the Alabama Crimson Tide….......... I eat, sleep and breathe college football. The Auburn Tigers are like my biggest rival in the entire world !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive never liked them to be honest. However, My husband is a die hard Auburn fan and to say the least its been interesting in my house during football season! LOL Well, I finally started watching Auburn a little this last year and this year, and have somewhat kept up with them. I think that getting rid of TOMMY TUBBERVILLE is the absolute BIGGEST MISTAKE AUBURN COULD HAVE EVER MADE !!!!!!!!!! So you had a losing season, get over it…...... Alabama has had those as well…....... So you didnt beat Alabama this year, GET OVER IT…....... we are #1 in the nation. Its understandable that you might have lost to us this year. I am soooooooooooooooo mad about TOMMY That I cant even see straight….............. HE IS A GREAT COACH THAT TOOK AUBURN OUTTA THE SLUMS AND BROUGHT THEM UP TO A CLASS ACT STANDARD as far as I am concerned. Auburn beat Alabama for the past 6 years in a row excluding this year or course lol…............. I will be the first to say that us Southern folk take our football extremely serious, but you know its bad when a BLEEDING CRIMSON TIDE PURE ALABAMA fan is mad about ya’ll getting rid of Tommy Tubberville…......... Well, I just had to vent lol….... That just makes me sooooooooooo mad…...... No wonder I have a bad headache this morning…........... TOMMY, GOOD LUCK DUDE ! I know without a doubt that some University will pick you up in a heartbeat and they will be the better off for doing so….................... With that said, Im outta here ! “Ah Sunflowers” Ah Sunflower, weary of time, / Who countest the steps of the sun; / Seeking after that sweet golden clime / Where the traveller’s journey is done; Where the Youth pined away his desire, / And the pale virgin shrouded in snow, / Arise from their graves, and apire / Where my Sunflower wishes to go! -William Blake THE METHOD: The photograph I took was beautiful: two bright sunflowers under the noon sun, standing proudly in front of three slats of a wooden fence. I considered painting the composition exactly as it was in the photograph, but I thought against it. It was good, but perhaps seemed a little…. ordinary. I stared at the photograph for a considerable time, then I decided the direction I wanted to take. I employ tight, controlled technique to create bright, realistic, sunlit flowers, and then give the paint much more freedom for a bright purple background. I added a bumblebee to the mix to give the painting a little more interest, and to give the flowers a little more purpose. I intended the painting to contrast several things. Purple, loose background with yellow, tightly controlled flowers. For the flowers themselves, I used yellow, greens, browns, and touches of Thalo Crimson, with green for any shadowing I needed. For the background, I let bold, wet washes of Prussian Blue and Thalo Crimson interact, occasionally applying thick Crimson straight to the paper with a dry brush, and sometimes spritzing the painting with a spray bottle, or adding salt to create a more interesting texture. Finally, I used a wire brush to throw some random, blue flecks on the paper. I didn’t mix any colors on the palette, but layered washes of pure color directly on the paper. I hope that others find this as pleasing to look at as I found it to paint, and I always welcome comments of any kind!
