Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Banksia plagiocarpa From the Proteaceae Family. / Banksia...after Sir Joseph Banks. / plagiocarpa... From Greek plagios, oblique or sideways and carpos, a fruit, referring to the upturned lip on the open follicles of the fruit. Banksia plagiocarpa is a medium shrub to about 5 metres in height. It was originally collected in the 1860s but remained unnamed and was not collected again until rediscovered in the early 1980s. The leaves are about 100-200 mm long by up to 15 mm wide and are narrowly elliptical in shape with recurved margins which may be entire or serrated. Found in Far North Queensland – Regarded as rare in the wild. I found this Banksia at Sailor’s Creek, Cape North Peninsula, Far North Queensland. 100% of proceeds received from Redbubble in respect to sales of “Banksia Plagiocarpa” will be donated to “thegreataustraliancancerbushwalk” for the Cancer Council. The weather was really beautiful and ominous on that day. Everytime the sun would peek out I would drop everything and set up my tripod. This is Little Lakes Valley, Eastern Sierra, Ca and I’m still amazed that I live so close to someting so beautiful. This trail eventually ascends Morgan Pass and up into the alpine High Sierras. You can see them in the far background. Created from 2 exposures blended together.

I happened across this scene while in Fort Smith, Arkansas on business last year. I’d crossed this creek many times before and never thought to look twice at it. In daylight, it appears sluggish, almost brackish. But on this and the succeeding morning, the lowland was filled with fog and the warm morning sun infused the entire scene with a beautiful golden essence. The water feature is the Massard Creek on Highway 22 between Ft. Smith and Barling, Arkansas. Pentax K110D, 1/250 @ F8, ISO 200.
Went up to Lancelin yesterday to test out my new 5D Mark II . Got up there fairly early in the afternoon as we though we would have to try and find a location to set up . When we arrived it was blowing a gale and sand got every where , must have brough back half the dunes with me . Still stuck it out though and took a fair few shots . Later on the at night we though we would try some star trails as the wind had died off . Got a few shots would have liked to stay longer but we were worried about finding our way out the sand dunes at night in the 4wd and not getting bogged . / Have to say i love the 5D MKII . http://kirkhille.wordpress.com/ Various images of mine are for sale on various finishes and sizes from Gloss and lustre, Metallic and Fuji Flex prints.
