Elowah falls tumbles some 200+ feet to the floor of the Columbia River Gorge. Taken on a rainy misty day in January. I never seen that much water coming over the falls.

I ventured up to Leura Cascades in the Blue Mountains today to try my hand at some waterfall photography.. This was one of the results, I hope you like it!! I used a circular polarizer to darken the scene and allow longer shutter speeds to capture the water flow better.. / Thanks very much for looking, comments and critiquing are most welcome.. Featured in Falling Leaves November 13, 2008. “If winter is slumber and spring is birth, and summer is life, then autumn rounds out to be reflection. It’s a time of year when the leaves are down and the harvest is in and the perennials are gone. Mother Earth just closed up the drapes on another year and it’s time to reflect on what’s come before.” / Mitchell Burgess, Northern Exposure, Thanksgiving, 1992 This little shot was taken on a Sunday dog walk, November 9, 2008, here in Maryland. Sadly, the leaves were already down … but the stillness and beauty of the forest and the stream are always welcome!! I was using the Nikon D40x with the 18-135 lens and the polarizing filter. Just a smidge of Orton applied for the fun of it. Companion piece to “First, By Reflection” First, By Reflection / Obsidian Dawn
“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” / Confucius (551 BC – 479 BC) Companion piece to “A Time To Reflect” Taken November 9, 2008 with Nikon D40x, lens 18-135 with polarizing filter. Shot in Montgomery County, Maryland. Just the tiniest bit of Orton tossed on for giggles. A Time To Reflect Obsidian Dawn

These beautiful falls are not named, or signed. Was an accident that I even found them, getting lost is a wonderful way to find somewhere you havn’t been. At the base of Mount Wellington, Hobart, I’m sure someone knows where these are. I think the stream came from the mountain, snow melt or rain. Beautiful and fresh, and quite cool. Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available large and definately best viewed Large!
