Chambered Nautilus Nautilus pompilius can usually be found on the sea floor at depths of 150m+, it swims into shallower water at night to prey on small fish. This is my first photo of a butterfly. I would have loved to get a better macro shot but unfortunately, I don’t own a macro lens, so I had to make do with my standard 18-55mm. While I’m pleased with the clarity and colours, I would have loved to be able to compose the photo differently, by getting a closer look. Perhaps Santa will bring me a new lens this year, if I’m a good girl? / /

This dragon was very real and dangerouse, it measured about 8 ft long / The guide told me not to get to close as they can rear up on there hind legs, and he was the only one that it trusted

This image was captured in Jupiter, Florida This is a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird / Which is in the bird family Trochilidae, and are endemic to the Americas. They can fly backwards, and are the only group of birds able to do so. Their English name derives from the characteristic hum made by their wings.Which they can do up to 53 times a second. The extremely short legs of the Ruby-throated Hummingbird prevent it from walking or hopping. The best it can do is shuffle along a perch. To scratch its head and neck it raises its foot up and over its wing. The Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) is a medium-sized hawk. Their breeding range is in eastern North America and along the coast of California and northern Mexico, and northeastern-central Mexico. / Males are 43 to 58 cm (17 to 23 in) long, weigh about 550 g (1.2 lbs) and have a wingspan of 96 cm (38 in). Females are slightly larger at 48 to 61 cm (19 to 24 in) in length, a weight of about 700 g (1.5 lbs) and a wingspan of about 105 cm (42 in). / By the time they are five days old, nestling Red-shouldered Hawks can shoot their feces over the edge of their nest. Bird poop on the ground is a sign of an active nest. It is the largest North American heron, with a head-to-tail length of 91–140 cm (36-55 in), a wingspan of 167-201 cm (66-79 in), and a weight of 2–3.6 kg (4.4-8 lbs). Although the Great Blue Heron eats primarily fish, it is adaptable and willing to eat other animals as well. Several studies have found that voles (mice) were a very important part of the diet, making up nearly half of what was fed to nestlings in Idaho. Occasionally a heron will choke to death trying to eat a fish that is too large to swallow. How about this guy? Is he ugly or what? Is it a BUG? Looks pretty buggy so he can be a bug for now..seems he might be a draginfly larvae. / So interesting, check out his face! I love him and would you believe I actually set out to photograph the pebble and when i picked it up out of the water this strange creature was on it, he was much more interesting than the pebble….. / / A wonderful shot of nature you don’t see everyday, taken at Ravenshoe, Far North Queensland, Australia with a Canon Powershot A480, as is, untouched, straight from camera.
