Creating Heart featured in Feminine Intent 16 Nov 09 My poem Creating Heart featured in Poetry and Beautiful Women 19 April 09 Creating Heart / / In that moment when our hearts break / We can choose to remain open / Feel our pain / or shut down. / / If we remain open we are raw / We scud through a plethora of emotion: / shock black, anger red / grief grey, growth green / love pink. / The odyssey of pain. / / Often the violence of our pain / makes us want to withdraw / like a deer, to lick wounds / like a hermit to fall within ourselves. / / If we choose to close down / We divert our minds / Our wounds stay open and / then become crusty and dry / And our heart shrinks, tightens, / and the creative flow…stops. / / If we stay open - / vulnerable…fragile everything hurts. / Looks shatter. / Words annihilate to red raw. / We crumble and fragment / And we bleed. / / But we survive if we live our emotions / We wear our feelings out until / our tears a continual waterfall on our / face wash the pain away. / And we begin to heal. / / Our divine inner child walks / and than dances again / Delicate fragile and raw / our heart breathes / And our creative flow continues / Vulnerable we can create and feel. / / And we grow and we reconstruct / and put our pieces back together / Raw, exposed and alone / we draw from our heart / to create beauty / Alchemists and transformers we / recreate ourselves in a new form. / / Naked, consumed in the act of creation / engaged and enraptured / we are consumed forever in / creating line by line / brushstroke by brushstroke / colour, line and form / uninhibited and free / creating beauty, creating life / ...Creating Heart. / / Written by Anthea Slade 14-9-08 Heart Series / Drawing One / 5-4-08 / Pencil and Oil Pastel
This design is a playful pun of the old classic subbuteo where the 70’s kids instead of ‘flicking to win’ the game of football, is to take the opposition’s pub, aiming to get across from your end of the street and get in their boozer. / Using your tactics, nous and experience you can dodge the rivals and over zealous police and get yourself a proper result. Hours of fun can be had during the season. / You’d be gloating all about it the next day in school no doubt.
I did this illustration in college for a children’s book I had written. Honestly, I don’t even remember the name of it. (I know, that’s bad of me…bad Steve, BAD!) I don’t remember it being all that good of a story anyway. Had something to do with a kid making a rocket ship, then going to space and having crazy adventures with space monsters. (Not exactly crazy-original).
Did this one a while quite a while ago. Back when I was in my early twenties… (Oh crap I’m getting old.) Who are the monsters? Why are they swimming on a faraway planet with a pot bellied little boy? Why did I feel the need to use so much marker on this piece? I don’t have the answers to any of that…sorry. Deal with it.
This is Vimy Ridg In Wateron Glacier National Park Located on the Canadian Side in Southern Alberta. / This National Park is a World Heritage Site and is also dedicated as Waterton International Peace Park / I have been told that this shot is rarely captured, due to the frequency of the winds around this area. My Aunt and My Grandmother have tried for years and never had the opportunity to capture this Mountain and its mirrored image before and they live here. / I have searched hundreds of Pictures and have seen only one single Mirrored Image of this Mountain on the Internet there has to be more I’m sure. I have been back several times to take more shots but the water was too choppy, as the winds are almost always blowing, I was Extremely fortunate to have captured this shot. / For more Historical Information on “Vimy Ridge” I found a site link below for you to check out. / Nikon D80 Nikor AFS ED 18-135mm Lens With Circular Polarizing Filter / 415 Views / /
My favourite Gerberas have made another appearance …
This is the second of two shots that I humbly submit as my “Meeko series”. / These shots were taken with my Kodak Easyshare ZD710 digital camera and are totally “AS IS”. / I have not even made any adjustments for lighting. Meeko is my parents Presian/Himmy mix, whom they adopted several years ago. Meeko is a very large boy and weighs between 21 and 22 pounds as of his check-up this year. / He isn’t a young man anymore either; having reached the wonderfully healthy age of 11 years. Coloured Pencil and Ink on 280 gsm Glass Ivory Paper - / (40cm x 60cm) Worked on this one for over a week, through the wee small hours of the mornings. All my art is cathartic, it’s how I balance my life, creating is my reason to go on. When I’m up I create, when I’m down I create, creativity is my balance. I did this as one of my first experiments into coloured pencil art, and found the whole ‘colouring in’ process so very relaxing and calming. I couldn’t help but feel happyness and joy while doing this. I spent every moment I could as a child, laying on my tummy, drawing, colouring. Nothing has changed, I’m still laying on my tummy, drawing, colouring (lol) Views: 703 as at 25-11-2009 / Favourites: 38 as at 25-11-2009 FEATURED in ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Fantastic Primitive Art’(June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘First Things’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Hand Drawn or Painted Art of Happiness & Joy’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Freedom to Shine’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Fantastic Primitive Art’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Colour Me a Rainbow’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Creative Cards’ (July 2009) / FEATURED In ‘Globes, Spheres and Curves’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘The New Beat Generation’ (August 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Spectacular Spirals’ August, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Healing through Art’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Oh so emotional (happy)’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Healing through art (HTA)’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Impressionism Cafe’ December 2009 /

This is the statue of the Roman Emperor Constantine outside the west door of the the Church of St Peter, better known as York Minster. The sunrise was just catching his arm and the tower under repair on the Minster and the composition mirrors the fact that in God creating man, so Constantine created Christianity as the state/politically sanctioned religion, thus starting years of debate, slaughter and torture along side learning and art.

Words and events line up in her heart hoping she will choose their meaning to mean anything under the sun. / What freedom in metaphor when one can choose words that will dance to obscure beats and express moonlights truth by day. / My dearest LisaJ has a talent beyond measure. I saw her caveness in this granite heart and felt sweet joy and pain do a jig! For Lisa the dark and light contrast prove a goodness ground for growth. / Here is her inspired art she chose for this cave piece created, as I had always wondered what was up in there. tehee…xxxooo . My Cave / By Lisa Jewell / . It happened the moment my eyes dug into my very own Mount Sinai and the chilled forgotten mist settled between my teeth. Sin rose in my skin easing the day pain away. Into my laced fingers I bore newborn cursive tears. I named each tear before releasing their words onto my fresh life tablet. Into the rising Carmel Delta my primordial temple rose again. Between the dying of flesh and the outpouring of eternal essence, love rubbed its honeyed runes into my follicles. As far as my knees reach into the earth my strength will grow; out of the sight of heartbreaks ambush. I remain cloistered for the truth. / I shall be alone. / But I shall always love
