Craig’s Hut on Mt Stirling in the Victorian High Country was built for the filming of The Man From Snowy River. / Lost only recently in the fires that swept the High Country an major effort is now underway to rebuild the hut. / The hut and it’s location with it’s magnificent views has become a major tourist attraction for both 4wd enthusiasts and the touring public. / This image of the hut was taken about 10 months before the fires swept through.

My first attempt at a HDR image. Not a true one in the sense that i took multiple exposure shots… i made different exposure shots with my RAW converter…then put together with photomatrix… Was good fun! Not sure it is right but i think it looks ok???

Unfortunately the skies here in the desert are mostly hazy and full of sand and dust! There are not too many days when there are clear horizons with clouds, and to be able to catch a sunrise like this was just excellent! Located in Libya towards the Algerian border. / /

Originally constructed for The Man from Snowy River film in 1981–82, Craig’s Hut was burnt down by bushfires in 2006. It was completely rebuilt and reopened to the public in January 2008. The last 1.2 kilometres is only accessible by 4WD or via the walking track from the Day Visitor Area.(quite steep and bit hairy at times). / This photograph was taken before it was burnt down, so it is the original hut featured in the film, The Man from Snowy River.

Craig’s Hut was built in 1981 for the film “The Man from Snowy River” then destroyed in the 2006 bushfires that ravaged the area. It has been rebuilt and, despite the fact that it is not an original settlers’ hut from a bygone era, it looks like it has been there for centuries. / HDR created with three images at -3, 0, +3 blended in Photomatix with tone-mapping filter applied. / This was taken at sunset and I thought I’d try a BW sunset shot for a change. / Nikon D700 with 24-70 mm lens
