historic slab hut in samford / houses local art and craft
This was taken in a dark room, with just enough daylight to highlight the feet. I opened the curtains a little just to allow the natural daylight in. My wife was holding Eli as I took the shot using a Tripod and remote . 100% of all proceeds from sale of all my art goes toward our Charity Projects in Deep Rural Africa. This boat belongs to a good friend of mine who owns a country cottage in my hometown of West Pennant, Nova Scotia, Canada. The title of this piece is the name of his vessel. My friends mother is very important to him and allowed him to have his dream get away so he named his boat in her honour. When he was a child she used to call his wee wee, you guessed it, Gullingo! LOL
Featured in the group Latin Flair in November 2009 Arts and Crafts are an important industry in Colombia but they are also a significant expression of both the culture and artistic spirit of the people. In every area of the country from the Caribbean coast to the Jungles of the Amazon artists promote this expression on the street as well as in the local shops. /
Cut white tissue paper scanned into CanoScan 880F and edited in Photoshop Elements 3. / This is an experiment in editing and scanning. I did scan a green cut paper piece a couple of weeks ago, but this white one was an adventure, since it was white against the white of the scanner board…there was very little contrast and almost no color. Like snow, you know? I spent nearly an hour “finding” appropriate color and contrast for it in Photoshop Elements 3, starting with a couple of gradients. /

Making clocks using your own artwork is great fun, I’ve been doing it for years. I’ll show you how to make a clock out of foam board (foam core) and a clock motor. / You’ll need to decide on the size of your clock and the thickness of the material first, so you can choose the length of the motor stem, and the length of the clock hands (free when you buy a motor). This is the motor I usually use. (http://www.klockit.com/products/dept-157__sku-FFFFV.html) This clock is 7” diameter, can be larger. / You’ll need to add the clock numbers or symbols to your artwork; you can do this freehand, or use the illustration as a guide to make a template, as a temporary layer to your art, position your numbers, then delete the template. Don’t forget to include a 5/16 inch center circle on your art so you can cut out the hole for the clock stem. / / / Once you’ve glued your print to foam core and cut it out, you need to make the hole for the clock stem. IMPORTANT TIP: put your work on a cutting surface, hold your xacto knife straight up and push the tip straight down into the edge of the small center circle, repeat making a dotted line of down-cuts around the edge. Turn your work over, and you should see the circle where the tip came through, repeat the straight down cuts again around the circle until you can pop out the center with the back end of your knife. / Attach motor and hanger using the diagram. You may need small pliers to tighten the clock stem nut, but gently. Make sure the hands are pointing straight up when attaching them, use the minute hand to line up that shaft before carefully pressing on the hour hand, attach minute hand with it’s tiny nut, gently. If you bought a second hand, carefully press it onto the smallest center shaft. Add the AA battery, set the time, and hang it up! / / / CONTINUED IN LET’S MAKE A CLOCK – PART 2

I know it is the wrong time of year, but thought I would combine a bit of work with play. I knit and write knitting patterns as one of my jobs, and have to work a fair way in advance for the production of the booklets or what ever, hence the untimely posting of this image. I do hope to work on some more of the images when I have more time and then post them at a more appropriate time. Sadly I am not a professional so have no lighting equipment or the fine skills of such, but with a bit of photoshop, thought I would share my handicrafts with you all! (...I am also trying to type up the instructions as we browse, but can’t keep off RB….aurrghh must get to work!!)
My daughter has been Bead crazy lately and filled a huge box up to the rim with them….....wow! I’m happy to buy them because they’re inexpensive and her bracelet making has kept her out of trouble! ;-)) Redfield Fractalius used.
