Wawel Royal Castle in Cracow. The Renaissance building, preserved to this day, with its beautiful arcaded courtyard, is impressive.

This church lies in one corner of the Rynek Glowny (Market Square) in the centre of Cracow, Poland. It dates from the second half of the fourteenth century, is now a minor basilica, and contains some beautiful carvings by Veit Stoss (Wit Stwosz).
Taken on a March day after a light fall of snow. This street lies near Wawel Castle in Cracow, Poland.
The Jews of Cracow (Krakow) enjoyed protected status in 14th century Poland, but by the end of the 15th century were forced to move to this district, south of the city. They suffered terribly during the second world war, though much of the action of the film “Schindler’s List”, though shot here, took place in another district on the other side of the Vistula river. Kazimierz is full of picturesque old streets like this. Taken with the synagogue behind me. Pentax K10D.
There are plenty more doors like this in old Kazimierz, Cracow, Poland. From the photographer’s view, I hope they don’t get the attention or they wouldn’t look the same!
A city full of resplendent architecture where new buildings sit like debutantes, unashamedly mixed with their old maiden aunts. Many buildings have grown old gracefully displaying an elegant decaying beauty. / Krakow was at its most beautiful at night: it had a dreamlike quality with gently lit buildings and walls bathed from soft street lights. / Post processing has involved blue tones and enhanced chiaroscuro to convey the dramatic tension between the beauty of the place and people and a painful dark past.
