Blossoming Crabapples
Driving home today I found some trees at the edge of someone’s property. The gentleman was mowing his lawn so I asked if I could take a few shots of the buds on the tree. That whole road wound up being something fabulous to see. I’m glad I went that way. LavenderMoon~

Featured & Placed 7th in Challenge Appaloosa & Spotted Horses/Pones – 4/19/2009 / Appaloosa & Spotted Horses/Ponies – 3/26/09 I stopped to get pics of the horse/crab apples, and the horse. We had Champ with us, on the way home from the car show, Champ was barking out the window at the horse. I’m not sure who was more curious, Champ or the horse, LOL! I liked how the horse looked with the pretty blue sky overhead. Best viewed larger

Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches, cold press. The majority of this painting was done using the negative painting technique. Due to the many layers, there was a lot of patience needed waiting for the paint to dry, not something I find easy. /
After I lost 15 trees as a result of Hurricane Gustav, I started replanting trees in my yard. One of them is a lovely crabapple tree. It’s a young baby, but it’s already sprouting beautiful blossoms. This is a bough from my new crabapple tree.
This 5×7 print hangs above the antique desk in my gallery. / More than one visitor has commented about the “preserved” butterfly …. they have all seemed genuinely surprised when I showed them that it is a photograph. Not true grapes, Oregon grapes are related to bayberry, and grow wild throughout the western United States. Used by Native Americans for medicine, domestic varieties are most commonly used in landscaping, for colorful ground cover. In winter, the leaves turn copper, bright orange, and red. The tiny blooms are yellow. Until this uncharacteristically wet year, I had never seen them this plump and lush before. Ordinarily, they have just a few hard little dry-looking berries. / (2009.SEP.02) RedBubble Album: Small Blessings Canon 350D EIS / Sigma 75/300 mm >
