  • The magical curves and lines of “The Wave Rock” in Coyote Butes Wilderness Area in Northern Arizona. Sandstone eroded into wild shapes and curves by wind and water over time.

  • A rainstorm the week before our hike left water pooled on the sandstone above the Wave rock in Coyote Buttes Wilderness area. The water was so still that the reflection and reality were hard to separate

  • This was taken in West Yellowstone On 10/25/08. This little coyote was pretty brave. Scavaging for food that people might spare. Unfortunantly due to humans feeding him, he most likely will be put down by park rangers, due to his “no fear” policy. Please don’t feed the animals!!!

  • Thick in the brush of Montana, there’s a man. Sporting an orange vest, he crouches, perched dangerously in a high oak tree. Far down the mountainside walks the majestic black bear, standing over a stream, preparing to paw some salmon. The hunter takes up his rifle, and stares down the scope. In his circular view, the bear pauses, almost sensing the crosshair. Lowering his weapon, the hunter is overwhelmed by nature. Available in army and brown, Hunter is part of the Sandman Series of Orange Alexander. Sold exclusively on redbubble.

  • Original Illustration done in ink, colored in Photoshop. Foxy sure is cute!

  • My very first job was pumping gas for a small Mobil Oil Station on a country highway similar to the picture I’ve created here. I worked nights enjoying the big sky, bright stars and loved the Mobil oil flying horse. Various nocturnal creatures would stop by to say hello and sniff around. My customers were mostly local farmers and country people, I knew everybody on a first name basis and never got robbed. I remember at the time gasoline was twenty five cents a gallon. / It seems we now face the end of the cheap-fossil-fuel era. It is no exaggeration to state that reliable supplies of cheap oil and natural gas underlie everything we identify as the necessities of modern life - not to mention all of its comforts and luxuries: central heating, air conditioning, cars, airplanes, electric lights, inexpensive clothing, recorded music, movies, hip-replacement surgery, national defense - you name it.

  • The slushy, rainy, snowy slop finally stopped yesterday, and temps got low enough last night to freeze the entire mix into a hard, crusty frosting. Since I figured my fox area would be a sloppy mess, I decided to go look for coyotes. I ran into a friend who had the same plan, and we had a great coyote day. The skies were finally clear, and we had some great directional morning sun. This is a good sized coyote who was out in the open field hunting for voles. I was hoping to catch a leap in the air as he hunted – he tensed up a few times, but never did the jump. Maybe the snow was too hard for that kind of hunting. Today, he didn’t mind us getting too close for some shots. I filled up an 8gb card.
