I have always had a fascination with ships and the ocean. Detail and craftsmanship of these old wooden vessels is sensational. Whether they were pirates, fisherman, sailors or just adventurous men who sought out adventure on the high seas they always took pride in their vessels. . / . / Lisa C. Usually Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest doesn’t have this volume of water. But following a heavy rain, I was able to stand behind the falls and snap this photo of the afternoon sun shining through the falling water. Probably got closer than I should have… Middle Cove, Newfoundland, a large island off the east coast of Canada. As Is.
During this past week, unimaginable waves came crashing into the north shores of the Hawaiian islands. The surf was windy, and messy, and disorganized—not ridable for the great watermen of Hawaii. I happened to be in Sunset Beach, Oahu during the storm, and the sun only peeked through the clouds a couple of times, briefly. I was waiting. Here is my image.
Taken on the very last evening of a weeks holiday in Cornwall at Sennen Cove . The only decent sunset we had all week but boy was it worth waiting for! :)
Taken at Church Cove, Lizard Point, Cornwall, UK. / Looking WSW. The Lizard Peninsula is full of quaint fishing villages, coves and creeks, and has a beautiful rugged landscape. Soft edge added in Picasa3. Hope you like it. / Thanks for looking. Best Viewed Large.
Inspired by my time spent down at the cove near my home; a place where it’s calm and peaceful and I am inspired with each visit.
Best Viewed Large About the Ship….. / The French ship Glorieux was a second rate 74 gun ship in the French Navy. Built by Clairin Deslauriers at Rochefort and launched on 10 August 1756, she was rebuilt in 1777. She was captured by the British at the Battle of the Saintes on 10 April 1782 and commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Glorieux or HMS Glorious the following day. She was rated as a third rate. She sailed with the fleet for England on 25 July 1782 but was lost later that year in a hurricane storm off Newfoundland on 16-17 September, along with the other captured French prize ships Ville de Paris, Hector and Caton. Glorieux was lost with all hands, including her captain, Thomas Cadogan, son of Charles Cadogan, 3rd Baron Cadogan. This disaster to the fleet of Admiral Graves also saw the loss of HMS Ramillies, HMS Centaur, the storeships Dutton and British Queen, and other merchantmen from a convoy of 94 ships, with a total of over 3,500 men lost / .Wikipedia. 11 hours of rendering time, not counting the time for postwork.
