I just found this very old photo of Peggy’s Cove, this was taken on Mariners World about 200 years ago. / Because of the violent storms generated by Nova Moon,it requires two lighthouses. / They do say except for the backdrop of the Scotia Mountains and the Nova Moon, this could be the original Earthly scene. I used Lucindawinds images “Tranquility” and “The Reason for Lighthouses”. Alienvisitor’s Imagi – Nation .......................................................................................................... Here’s a How I did it.! I went to Lucindawinds page and viewed her art,the 2 I picked out were “Tranquility” and “The Reason for Lighthouses”. I then contacted her,got permission to use them and had her email high res. images. She also gave me ownership of said images,to use in any creations. Software used Photoshop,Bryce 5.5,Artmatic Voyager. In Photoshop… I put both images on transparent backgrounds,In Tranquility I erased the most of the sky,in Lighthouses I removed everything but the rocks. I dragged the rocks onto the Tranquility image and positioned it in the lower quadrant. / Then I took a good look and saw in my minds eye what I needed for a backdrop and also the colors. Leaving the image on the right side of the screen,I opened my 3D rendering program Artmatic Voyager ( this is a Mac only program) / I then spent a couple of hours building and rendering an Alien Background. I always render at the highest possible resolution,on my machine that can take up to 6-7 hours, this one took 45 min. Closing the program and reopening the render in photoshop,I then dragged then dragged it onto the transparent layer. Now I needed lighthouses and I didn’t want to use the one in Lu’s image. So I opened Bryce 3D,and built myself 2 lighthouses, saving as psd transparent files. Back in Photoshop I dragged and positioned both lighthouses on the image. Then feathered and cloned all the edges of of the 5 layers until they were blended to my satisfaction. I then opened my filters and chose the “Old Photo Color” filter, tweeked, painted, erased the image then set the filter. It still needed something…FOG.. Opened a “Graduated Fog” filter adding just a little fog with the paint brush on the horizon, this also goes aways to hiding any harsh edges in that area. Almost done… Added a bit of brilliance to the image. Thats it…another fine alien creation. AV

Peggy’s Cove is one of the most photographed locations in the world located in Nova Scotia, Canada. This tiny inlet boasts some spectacular scenery including huge glacial rocks, a tiny village of 40 inhabitants, and particularly the lighthouse. / The crashing Atlantic Ocean surf on these lovely rocks is fabulous.

This is probably the most photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia. For this reason, I don’t usually like taking shots of it because most likely anyone that has visited NS has been there and done that…. However, we went on a Sunday drive and decided to go to Peggy’s Cove where this famous lighthouse lives. She is a beauty though right?

This is another image from the Peggy’s Cove collection. I’m hoping (probably in vain) that this perspective hasn’t been shot all that often as i don’t like repeating someone else’s work. I don’t recall seeing this small village portrayed this way but that could just be that I missed it. I really love how this shot turned out and I hope you do too!

One of many picturesque scenic views in Peggy’s Cove on Nova Scotia was this little lagoon with its wonderful reflections that were a joy to attempt to capture in watercolor.

The world-famous lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada. I’ve been wanting to go here for quite a while to get some pictures. We finally went a few weeks ago, and of course it being January in Nova Scotia and right by the ocean it was very cold, mostly due to the wind coming off the ocean. I think it was worth it though. I finally got to see this Nova Scotia landmark in person. Hope you enjoy it.
