  • This place is called The Elephant Cove (located at the Williams Bay) near a South West coastal town called Denmark, Western Australia.

  • This was taken in Cades Cove on Sparks Lane, located in the Great Smoky Mountains. / shot this using ISO of 400, EV of +0.01 in SS mode (forgot SS) :)

  • I have always had a fascination with ships and the ocean. Detail and craftsmanship of these old wooden vessels is sensational. Whether they were pirates, fisherman, sailors or just adventurous men who sought out adventure on the high seas they always took pride in their vessels. . / . / Lisa C. • This shot was of the jetty over looking the coast at paradise cove resort mauritius .It was almost completly dark when I took this shot . / The shot was a few mins exposure . It was really windy and rainy this morning and had to stand to the side of the camera to stop the wind from shaking the tripod as much as possible and duck in for cover between showers of rain . Beacuse of the wind the image isnt as sharp as i would have liked . I was also lucky there werent any boats tied up the jetty like they normally where this morning . Not to sure what the little island of the coast you can see was called The color of the water there is amazing its really that Turquoise , quite different from the cool and deep blues of Western Australias oceans .

  • I just found this very old photo of Peggy’s Cove, this was taken on Mariners World about 200 years ago. / Because of the violent storms generated by Nova Moon,it requires two lighthouses. / They do say except for the backdrop of the Scotia Mountains and the Nova Moon, this could be the original Earthly scene. I used Lucindawinds images “Tranquility” and “The Reason for Lighthouses”. Alienvisitor’s Imagi – Nation .......................................................................................................... Here’s a How I did it.! I went to Lucindawinds page and viewed her art,the two I picked out were…............. “Tranquility” and “The Reason for Lighthouses”. I then contacted her,got permission to use them and had her email high res. images. / She also gave me ownership of said images,to use in any creations. In this I used two photos, a render, 2 models creations, a number of layers and filters. / Software used Photoshop,Infinity-D,Artmatic Voyager. In Photoshop… I put both photos on transparent layers,In Tranquility I erased the most of the sky,in Lighthouses I removed everything but the rocks. I dragged the rock layer onto the Tranquility image and positioned it in the lower quadrant. / Then I took a good look and saw in my minds eye what I needed for a backdrop and also the colors. Leaving the image on the right side of the screen,I opened my 3D rendering program Artmatic Voyager ( this is a Mac only program) / I then spent about 4 hours building and rendering an Alien Background. I always render at the highest possible resolution and saving as a PICT file (on my machine that can take up to 6-7 hours, this one took 2 hours.) Closing the Artmatic program and reopening the render in Photoshop,I then dragged it onto the transparent layer. Now I needed lighthouses and I didn’t want to use the one in Lu’s image. / Needed something a bit more alien. So I opened Infinity-D,and built myself 2 lighthouses, saving as psd transparent files. Back in Photoshop I dragged and positioned both lighthouse layers onto the Tranquility photo. Then feathered and cloned all the edges of all layers until they were blended to my satisfaction. I then opened my filters and chose the “Old Photo Color” filter, tweeked, painted, erased the image then set the filter. The filters I use are nik Color Efex Pro. It still needed something…FOG.. Opened a “Graduated Fog” filter adding just a little fog with the paint brush on the horizon, this also goes aways to hiding any harsh edges in that area. Almost done… Added a bit of brilliance to the image. Thats it and well worth the effort…another fine alien creation. “May you always create well and prosper” Alienvisitor’s Imagi – Nation* David (AV)

  • Peggy’s Cove is 43 kilometres southwest of downtown Halifax and comprises one of the numerous small fishing communities located around the perimeter of the Chebucto Peninsula. The community is named after the cove of the same name. Peggy is a nickname for Margaret, and the village may have taken its name from St. Margarets Bay upon which it is situated. Local folklore has several alternative origins for the name. Some people claim Peggy was an early settler. Others say she was a young survivor from a shipwreck who remembered nothing of her life before her rescue; not even her name but was given the name Peggy by the family who adopted her. The village was founded in 1811 when the Province of Nova Scotia issued a land grant of more than 800 acres (3.2 km2) to six families of German descent. The settlers relied on fishing as the mainstay of their economy but also farmed where the soil was fertile. They used surrounding lands to pasture cattle. In the early 1900s the population peaked at about 300. The community supported a schoolhouse, church, general store, lobster cannery and boats of all sizes that were nestled in the Cove. Many artists and photographers flocked to Peggys Cove. As roads improved, the number of tourists increased. Today the population is smaller but Peggys Cove remains an active fishing village and a favourite tourist destination.

  • Best Viewed Large About the Ship….. / The French ship Glorieux was a second rate 74 gun ship in the French Navy. Built by Clairin Deslauriers at Rochefort and launched on 10 August 1756, she was rebuilt in 1777. She was captured by the British at the Battle of the Saintes on 10 April 1782 and commissioned into the Royal Navy as HMS Glorieux or HMS Glorious the following day. She was rated as a third rate. She sailed with the fleet for England on 25 July 1782 but was lost later that year in a hurricane storm off Newfoundland on 16-17 September, along with the other captured French prize ships Ville de Paris, Hector and Caton. Glorieux was lost with all hands, including her captain, Thomas Cadogan, son of Charles Cadogan, 3rd Baron Cadogan. This disaster to the fleet of Admiral Graves also saw the loss of HMS Ramillies, HMS Centaur, the storeships Dutton and British Queen, and other merchantmen from a convoy of 94 ships, with a total of over 3,500 men lost / .Wikipedia. 11 hours of rendering time, not counting the time for postwork.
