Poppies are my favourite flower. They look so delicate yet are quite hardy and have a beautiful colour. I paint them frequently.

Wild Garlic or Allium Ursinum grows in abundance in woodland and hedgerows around Cornwall. When tidying my fathers large garden I had to dig some of them out of his borders. Rather than throw them away I took them home and planted a few clumps under my hedges. I now have a long bushy length of wild garlic, they cover ground and bush out quite rapidly, they flower in profusely from mid Spring. They are just dying off now. The flower is a brilliant white not the pink you see here, that is due to manipulation in PS CS3. Unlike domestic garlic, wild garlic is championed for its leaves rather than its bulbs. the bulbs, along with the flowers are edible, but are much smaller in quantity. Wild garlic has a very similar taste to domestic garlic, yet slightly milder. The leaves are delicious raw or cooked and work well in salads or soup.

Tradascantia or spiderwort. I can find very little about this plant, other than it is a weed. My sister gave me a few clumps. I have them in tubs so they are contained. They have lovely spear shaped leaves and such pretty flowers.

The Museum of Liptov Village was like a heaven to me! Great atmosphere of old good times, lot of photographic occasions, oasis of tranquility amidst lovely autumn landscape… Sometimes, I ask myself if people weren’t happier without all those phones and computers and cars and deadlines all around, but with a lot of time to smell the flowers or to cut some wooden ornaments on their houses… September 2008, Pribylina, the Slovak Republic. The lanes are abundant this year with lovely yellow clumps of Cowslips – they are such tiny delicate flowers and there is something about them that you just want to keep taking photos!! I have found them quite hard to capture due to the location of them mainly – in ditches and growing along the roadside – but I found these in a quiet lane whilst out with my Mum :) Canon eos 400d Sigma Lens 70-300mm macro mode / 1/1000 seconds / F/11 / ISO 1600 / 300mm FL / hand held / as is
