  • Shot as the storms started to roll on in, the evening’s out here on the plains can be a wonderful time for the light, here in Colorado. This road went down eventually to an old farm house, sadly it seemed abandoned, and as I sat here, my thoughts eventually started to turn to just how many people have driven down this now otherwise forgotten country road….sometimes the most gorgeous things are so close by, we just need to open our eyes to see them….. —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • This image is a team effort in collaboration with the very talented and gracious Rosalie Dale The words of this old hymn, based on Psalm 18:2 Rock of Ages Rock of Ages, cleft for me, / Let me hide myself in Thee; / Let the water and the blood, / From Thy wounded side which flowed, / Be of sin the double cure; / Save from wrath and make me pure.

  • This is one of those times I wish I didn’t drive in such a hurry. On my way to work, which on this day was a 2 1/2 hour drive, and glimpsed a great silhouette. Kicking myself I decided to go past and a very short time later decided I had to at least capture something. This is a part result of that effort. I have done some processing here to try to invoke the feeling I had while I was here capturing the scene. I hope in a small way I am successful.

  • o what a beautiful morning! poor Rob must have wondered what on earth I was doing this morning in to grab the camera and Scooby going potty whilst trying to get his collar on and shouting it’s a red rise!! By the time I got to the lane though the red sun had gone but still it was lovey an orange glow surrounded us and it was bitterly cold!! We went for a brisk walk but I didn’t have a hat on so we didn’t do our whole round!! Tomorrow we might ;) cos I will put on a hat, wear some gloves and a scarf!! • “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door.” Mark 13:28,29 / [Jesus speaking to Peter, James, John and Andrew regarding the day He will return to the Earth. If you wish to know what else Jesus told us regarding that day, see the entire 13th chapter of Mark and 24th chapter of Matthew] I took this photo when the summer sun had just risen and was casting a golden glow….promising another hot humid day….NJ, USA, August 2009

  • I visited this area many times over the last 20 years to photograph this very scene, usually in the dark after twilight. I was there two nights ago and I couldn’t resist shooting it again as the sun set. I was also fortunate this time to have the lights from the two cars which passed by, one up and one down the hill, aligned so nicely. This is taken at “Ladies Lookout” atop Signal Hill, St John’s Newfoundland Canada. “Ladies Lookout” is so named because from this very point women would for generations walk there to look for signs of their men returning from the fishing grounds, the Grand Banks of Newfoundland. You can only imagine when Mother Nature unleashed the mighty North Atlantic the humility these people must have felt! Camera Model Canon EOS 50D / Tv( Shutter Speed ) 30 / Av( Aperture Value ) 22.0 / ISO Speed 100 For more information please visit Brian’s Homepage or on Flickr

  • Ben Avon wetlands, Ahuriri Valley, Mckenzie Country , New Zealand at sunrise

  • About half way between Sydney and Melbourne on the Hume Highway is the town of Gundagai. / It has been imortalised in Asutralia by the Song. There’s a track winding back to an old fashioned shack / Along the road to Gundagai / Where the blue gums are growing, the Murrumbidgee’s flowing / Beneath that sunny sky / Where my Mummy and Daddy are waiting for me / Where the pals of my childhood are waiting for me / So no more will I roam till I’m headed right for home On the road to Gundagai There’s an old fashioned Ford made of rubber, tin and board / Along the road to Gundagai / The radiator’s hissing, and half the engine’s missing / The oil tank’s running dry / There’s water in the petrol and sand in the gears / And it hasn’t seen a garage for more than twenty years / But O lord hear the roar when the pedal hits the floor / Along the road to Gundagai. I had the pleasure of being in Gundagai on the last weekend of October for my Nephew’s wedding. I was the backup photographer and I wanted a good sunrise shot to have as a present for the happy occasion. The Sunrise itself wqas quite dull but the light on the old railway station was wonderful. / This is a 3 image Panoramic and I am glad that it turned out exactly as I had planned. / Taken with a Nikon D300 using the 18-200mm VR Lens set at 45mm at f16.
