  • Nature is well into the process of reclaiming this old house near Gonzales, TX

  • Still-life shot of apricot jam and fresh apricots in a rustic bucket, against a black background.

  • Old barn with a new look. A BIG Thank-You goes to Kimberly Palmer for giving this old barn a new look. The county wants to tear this barn down. They claim it is an eye-sore… so sad. It has so much character!

  • Sometimes when you travel to the country or a rural area you feel like you’ve gone back in time. Technology and mod-cons evaporate as you pass into the sparsly spaced places in-between. Stepping off the highway, here were dirt roads, decayed buildings, and the mistrustful glances from locals. I asked where we were. The only person who could speak english replied couldn’t really say but just “on the way to somewhere else”.

  • Old dilapidated barn with rustic red doors. This old barn will be torn down sometime this month. Someone in the neighborhood complained that it was an “eye sore”.... so sad! Image was redone for me in HDR by Kimberly Palmer.

  • Blea Tarn with Langdale Pikes in the background, Lake District, Cumbria. / In Spring, early evening light. From my visit there in April 2008. I hadn’t been back to the Lake District for 27 years (and it’s only 100 miles away!) I painted this to commemorate my return. / And I’ll be there again, next week (early October). Watercolour 12”x8”

  • Lost in Utah would have been a more apt title after the GPS affectionately known as “Dorothy” lead me to a graveyard instead of a lake lol. I discovered some gorgeous countryside along route. There is nothing better than getting lost :))

  • Taken in the town of Allis Hollow, PA on 11/06/2008. A Canon Rebel XTi camera. Edited in HDR and PS. Best view larger. / /

  • Taken in North Rome, PA on 11/05/2008. Canon Rebel XTi. I always heard when growing up that’s what Ford meant.

  • This was shot in Arlington, WA. One of my favorite pics and the most featured, viewed and favorited of my works here on RedBubble. Thank you! / Using Photoshop, I adjusted the levels and saturation to bring out the colors. Three separate images were composited: old barn ruins, rainbow with tree and clouds. Clone stamped out a telephone wire as well. Trying something new, experimenting with my images in the Orton Style. Shot this with my Kodak Easy Share point & shoot camera. Brought it into Photoshop and added layers and different blending options as well as blur and sharpen. • ! This image was originally a slide, and after converted to digital, applied a diffusion filter to produce this effect. • ARCHITECTURE IS WHERE YOU FIND IT / Architecture is to do with the designing of buildings and structures, but in its broader meaning it also includes the design of our complete built environment. It can be found in outback areas, on mountain peaks, almost anywhere on the land, even on the sea in the form of oil rigs and it surrounds us in our places of abode. We tend to take it for granted and complain when its appeareance doesn’t suit our taste. Architecture provides us with shelter, places to work, gives us points of reference in our urban wilderness, but most important of all, it provides a fundamental basis for the way we live. Architecture is ephemeral, can be a thing of great beauty, and its elements can be pillaged and used as building blocks by successive generations. Past civilizations are often known through their achievements in architecture and certain works have become cultural, political and artistic icons. Presumably a family once lived in this little house at Fernie, British Columbia. It now stands derelict and isolated, yet it seems to exist as a monument to the toil of hard working rural people anywhere. The image was captured during summer 2008 towards the end of a photographic journey through the Canadian Rockies. Thanks for taking the time to view my photos and feel free to comment. You are welcome to visit my photography website My most recent publication ‘ARCHITECTURE WITH CHARACTER’ includes images of this rural house. Click on image below for a preview.

  • Inside a rustic cottage full of beautiful things at a New Brunswick historical site. I’m unable to download the original large size image due to problems with uploading to RB. I was able to download this card-size version only. It seems there are a few Redbubblers that are experiencing the same problem. © 2009 Anne Hale. Featured in Windows and Doors group, Nov. 29/09.

  • I had to pull over and shoot this big red barn in Quechee, Vermont. With my vehicle taking up one side of the road and my tripod set up on the other side, I am lucky neither was hit by passing trucks! HDR 3 exp. +2/-2 and PhotomatixPro FEATURED in The Woman Photographer
