Taken May 20 2007 with a Fuji E-510. See my Hayama calendar. This is located by a beach in Hayama, Japan; the town where I did my internship. Hayama is renowned for the beach and green hills, and this place was just a drive down. Hayama literally means “leaf mountain” in Japanese, and indeed Hayama is full of green mountain. But in this case this mountain in mostly rock, with a bit of green at the top, which is why I inserted “ishi” (meaning “rock”) in the title name. Mother nature presented me on a last October evening with one of those sunsets that you can hope to see just once a year if you’re lucky. / High layers of scattered clouds, a pure, clean atmosphere and the fact that at the end of october the twilight lasts almost a hour, all this elements contributed in producing a stunning natural show. This is the Po River near to Carignano in Piedmont, Italy. I hope you enjoy it, thanks for dropping by. Paolo
When I first came to Redbubble, I only had a couple pieces to post. I always reduced the size of my photos before editing them(making them too small for here), just didn’t have a reason to keep them full size until Redbubble. Anyways, I threw this pic up, just so I had more than 2 posted. I didn’t really even like it. The original shot’s exposure was all kinds of screwed up. I edited so much, I was just plain sick of it. But like I said, it was a filler pic. I sooo did not expect the amount of attention it received, much less that it sold. I’ve actually grown to really like it too. So I thought I’d share this, and the original shot with everyone. So here it is: This piece was my very first sold piece. It was also chosen for the Featured Art Page (before group featuring), featured in A Photographer’s Craft group, and was a finalist in the May US Scenic Photo Contest. You saw me sitting so serene, / in a lovely meadow a sight unseen / but when you drew beside my form, / I sensed the light did suddenly dawn, / I was not sight gifted at my birth, / still I treasure my days on earth / such a beautiful ponyyou said of me, / when you saw me sitting neath the tree / then pity sounded in your voice / as you realised that by no choice / I could not see Gods lovely gift / though my face I would uplift / to feel the sun’s warm radiant glow / and I smell the grass which is below, / was I only beautiful if I had my sight, / for the many blind it is their plight / please don’t feel sad about my eyes / one day you will come to realise / that beauty is not only for a sighted foal / it comes from deep within our soul I was thrilled to find this beautifulpony sitting in a paddock enjoying the sun. I rushed to take some shots of him, then as I got close I realised he was blind. My whole feelings changed in an instant and I couldn’t help feeling sorry for this beautiful animal. He had been badly abused by his biurth owner and kiced in the head by other horses. The man who now owns Ali said that the RSPCA (Animal cruelty body in Australia) said he had to be put down, but he took him, fed him and loved him. He was given a safe paddock to feed and rest in. This lovely farmer has alsop recently rescued another horse which is not i n very good health. Only time will tell wether that one survives. Thanks for visiting. / Taken with my Kodak z8612IS on a 5x zoom auto setting. I have edited out a barb wire fence which cut accross the pony’s face in two places in photoshop. Thanks for visiting,

At the very beginning of my conscious memory is the horizon. Mile high clear blue skies above and an endless panorama of baked red earth covered in low scrubby saltbush, bent and twisted by the searing hot winds. Endless hot days and restless nights listening to the rattle of an old tin roof straining to lose the accumulation of the day’s heat. Hoping that it wasn’t the oockle ogre who came at night to visit naughty children. The amazing sound of rain on a tin roof and siting up late watching the joy of grown-ups dancing in the dust with their feet bare, hands outstretched to catch the scatter of moisture falling gently from the skies above. Violent red and yellow skies at dawn and ghostly white rainbows arching over the dried up mudflats. The screeching exuberant joy of the countless brilliant flocks of cockatoo’s wheeling and jostling as they circled and danced above. Dead kangaroo’s on the track to town and the baleful glare of the fearless, frightening crows and hawks sitting on these sorry corpses as we drove by trailing huge clouds of red dirt. Dusty swagmen and silent blacks slowly shuffling by at dusk. And the red red earth, always filling my view. The hazy memory of my own inarticulate child’s delight at being so close to the earth with boundless space and time all around me. / . / . / this image was taken with an old Olympus SLR using Kodak Gold 400 asa film
