This is my son Harry, taken in the Summer 07 on the Ashdown Forest, Sussex, England. It was an amazing day to walk through the woods and this was taken just as we started to move out from the canopy of the trees, thus the lucky lighting.
I’m by no means a “treehugger”, but strangely enough.. / I do feel pain when I see a cut tree. I know we need wood, / and even various tree barks are known to promote healing in / cancer, but still..this is how I feel when I see our trees / and forests dying.. / / / 1st place winner in the Challenge Cafe: “Naked” competition / /

“Winter Frost” Cold frosty morning on the mountain. / Arkansas, USA “As you walk along the trail in the midst of soft shadows in the morning light, breathing deeply the crisp cold air of autumn sweetness, you enter the clearing beyond the trees. A warm band of sunshine illuminates the field, and highlighting the golden and scarlet colours of autumn and setting the frost sparkling like diamonds in the sunlight” (Sharon Anne Mau, 2008). / 9 16 09 Placed 5th in challenge, What are you drawn too In LIVE, AND LET LIVE Canon PowerShot S3 IS 6 MPX /
Driving, and enjoying the quiet of the natural world around me, / so much wild life can be seen driving these roads, and it just so nice to get away from the hustle, and bustle for a while. I love shooting in the low setting sun light, as it cast a nice diversity of color, light, and shadow. / Country road in NW Arkansas , USA As Is… / Canon PowerShot S3 IS

“Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

Combination one room school house, church, community building, and town hall. These structures are scattered through out the Ozark Mountains, and the foothills of Arkansas. Sooooooo…... These types of scenes are very familiar to me, living here in the good ol’ natural state. My very first years of school began in a one room school house almost identical to this one, and it is now long gone.. When I look at this photograph, I can still see us all running, and playing in the school yard, and hear all of our laughter, and screaming. All the sounds of the children playing, as we went along in our merry, carefree younger days. I remember…........
Nikon D40, 18-55mm Nikkor lens Thankfully we had dressed warm enough for a short excursion, even though we were headed for the theatre later in the day, but I forgot and put on an old pair of leather gloves that are really not winter appropriate. At one point, my fingers were freezing, mainly due to my taking my hands out of the gloves in order to work the camera, and Wanda, my friend, made me swap with her so that I could wear her warm woolen mittens in between shots. / Friendship is sharing mittens, that’s for sure! / The beauty of this walk left a big impression on me. We barely covered any distance because of the cold and our husbands waiting back at her home, but she wanted me to see what a wonderful area was here in her neighborhood for exploring, and we vowed to come back, dressed appropriately and armed with snowshoes to make the passage easier. A station that time has mostly forgotten all about stands waiting for a time that may never come. These old buildings and rails remember an era where hundreds of happy faces passed through here on their way home or on their holidays: They dream of a time long since passed. The Summer sky presents its amber glow to the station and casts its pigment all over the scene, highlighting the old charm of the woodwork and enhancing the shaddows. There is a romantic stillness captured within this scene. It is easy for us to imagine a crowd of people gathered waiting on a station that looks imaculate and yet, we can also see that this truly is the End of the Line. Just a simple forest scene on a foggy August morning, knowing that the fog will be rolling in, is good inspiration to be up, and out early. I really enjoy the simplicity, and the beauty of nature. / August 2009 -
