This is exactly how it looked in 1989. The ivy stays here year round. It’s weird, because it’s barren outside; winter. But when you step inside (which isn’t hard..you simply step through the wall) it looks like a summer day. Very odd & surreal feeling. When I first came to Redbubble, I only had a couple pieces to post. I always reduced the size of my photos before editing them(making them too small for here), just didn’t have a reason to keep them full size until Redbubble. Anyways, I threw this pic up, just so I had more than 2 posted. I didn’t really even like it. The original shot’s exposure was all kinds of screwed up. I edited so much, I was just plain sick of it. But like I said, it was a filler pic. I sooo did not expect the amount of attention it received, much less that it sold. I’ve actually grown to really like it too. So I thought I’d share this, and the original shot with everyone. So here it is: This piece was my very first sold piece. It was also chosen for the Featured Art Page (before group featuring), featured in A Photographer’s Craft group, and was a finalist in the May US Scenic Photo Contest. Thank You!! On a frosty june morning I found myself to the top of a local range looking at one of the most brilliant sunrise’s I have ever seen. The warm glow of the sun across the clouds and the shifting light made me forget about the the freezing temperatures I was working in.

The cabin of Carter Shields Place makes a beautiful autumn setting as it may of been around 1830 or 40’s.It’s location is on the Cades Cove Loop Road in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s preserved by the Park Service and an example of early Appalachian structures.
