Oil on canvas 40” X 40”. Completed 1995. www.RainbowPathArtStudio.com “I saw the angel in the marble and I carved until I set him free” / – Michelangelo The Dream was the first painting that I had completed from a vision. Painting The Dream was a very interesting process for me. I was concerned how others would react to a non-Aboriginal person using a style normally synonymous with Aboriginal art, i.e. dot painting. For this reason, when it was completed, I was hesitant to show it to anyone for some years. In November 1999 I succumbed and included The Dream, along with The Awakening, in a Sacred Art exhibition that featured six local artists. The exhibition began with a special welcoming ceremony performed by the Aboriginal Elders of the region. Afterwards, the Aboriginal Elders approached me and asked questions about my visions and paintings. They said they liked my work. I was so happy and relieved to hear that. Local dignitaries, including the Governor of South Australia, Sir Erik Neal, attended the public opening. To my surprise Sir Erik Neal invited me to display The Dream at Government House (his official residence) for six months to which I agreed. After the exhibition, The Dream featured in the main boardroom of Government House to be viewed by visitors from all over the world. The story of The Dream is about the creation of our universe. The snake (Rainbow Serpent) represents the Creator. The centre shows the creation of our universe, with the hands representing the creation of spirits in all dimensions and the eggs, the creation of life. The greens and browns represent land and all things that live on the land. The shades of blue and purple represent water and all creatures that live in water. The branches and red berries represent nourishment and sustenance. / At this stage in the story, Creation is not complete; hence the black (unfilled) background at two corners. The Rainbow Serpent has entered a sleep state and has begun dreaming our future. The Dream is the first of a series showing the transition of the universe from Creation to enlightenment. The next of the series is The Awakening.

A shot of some flower stems and buds that reminded me of space and the cosmos. And then of CS Lewis and his Space Trilogy, for some reason. I have yet to read it. But I love the name of that book. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this mysterious image. A Cosmos “Daydream” flower
I was walking around Omotesando and Harajuku to kill some time before meeting a friend the other night and found this patch of cosmos flowers. Planted out in the street, behind them were the lights of a shop and a vending machine was providing some light from my side. Just beautiful. Got mesmerised for a good fifteen minutes by these flowers. Nikon D300 / 85mm f/1.4 AF D
Is it flying through space or peering through a macro lens? I can’t really explain what I feel about this one. It kind of creeps me out. But I really really love it, feel a part of it. Please see my Etsy listing for this image – and purchase a pearlescent metallic print of this beautiful photograph!
Time to call upon some help…......:)

The Green Man is an ancient pagan symbol of our relationship to the plant kingdom. Men become tree-like, and the Green Man sports plants and leaves and boughs growing from his mouth or beard or his hair. / In the Green Man we have an archetype for our relationship to both the cosmos and the Earth – to Father Sky and Mother Earth. Plants are born from and connect the two. Plants are, like us, cosmic beings; they guarantee that the sun’s generous efforts to pour its energy over the earth are not in vain. The Sun finds ready receptivity in the plants. / Interestingly, the archetype of the Green Man also respects silence and introspection, which are common traits among farmers and indigenous peoples, those who remain close to the land. The Green Man honors for us how rich and deep the roots of nature are, telling us that we need to germinate under the soil, in the silence of our hearts. With the global economy caught in the gravity of the financial crisis, it’s sad that programs like the Constellation Project will have a long wait before anything truly gets off the ground. / / NASA’s Constellation Project is set up to finish the International Space Station, retire the Shuttle Fleet and build a whole new fleet of space vehicles which will take us back to the Moon, then Mars and then the places beyond. / / But with Congressional limitations and funding cutbacks due to the financial crisis, as well as being stuck with a complicated and restrictive “go as you pay” finance structure it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any groundbreaking manned space flights in the naughties. / / This image represents a fleeting memory of a childhood dream to see man explore our planets and then the stars beyond and it’s one of the few things as a child I looked up to America for. / / The universe is a big place and we’re yet to make it out of our solar system but without programs like the Constellation Project, man may never ever get to make another giant leap. / / DETAIL / / / /

Cosmos is my favorite flower, and the hardest to photograph! They grow so tall and the slightest breeze causes them to dance all around… But still, I love to photograph them! This has a bit of color treatment to it.
I still live my song, this rhapsody, / a song that is mine alone to sing, / my anthem, my signature piece, / my melodic madrigal of many ver…
Plainsong is monophonic, consisting of a single, unaccompanied melodic line. It is in free, rather than measured, rhythm. Similar to chant. / A madrigal is a type of secular vocal music composition, written during the Renaissance music and early Baroque music eras. Especially during the late 16th century, composers were ingenious in their use of so-called “madrigalisms” — passages in which the music assigned to a particular word expresses its meaning, for example, setting riso (smile) to a passage of quick, running notes which imitate laughter, or sospiro (sigh) to a note which falls to the note below. / A ballad is a form of verse, often a narrative story and set to music. It is also used to describe a type of lyric which resembles a madrigal though it is usually sung as a solo piece.
