New photograhs taken using colour infra red film are becoming rare as the the product is no longer available. Although it is possible to create infra red images using digital cameras, the effects are very different to those obtained with film. I have been shooting Kodak EIR colour infra red film for a number of years now and decided to create this calender as a tribute to the amazing colours and effects that can be achieved with it and the city I have lived in for 20 years

Each year my family makes the trip from the Okanagan Valley to Banff National Park. It is with much anticipation that we set out on this trip, hoping along the way to catch a glimpse at some wildlife and clear mountain scenery which good weather brings. Having been to our desired destination many times over the years, the very site of the beauty that this place holds still amazes us, as we drive down the winding highway thru some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Upon arriving in Banff, I feel a great sense of joy overcome me as if I am again visiting an old friend that has so much to offer. Many people say to me, “You always go there, you should try going somewhere else.” I realize that these people have not been bitten by the Banff Bug which brings us back to this glorious place each and every year. Banff has so much to offer. Beautiful breath taking scenery, clear fresh mountain air, a vast array of activities that can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life such as hiking, skiing, moutaineering, horseback riding, rafting, dining experiences with cosmopolitan flair , historic museums and shopping, just to name a few. / Unique wildlife viewing opportunities, and reasonably affordable accomodations await those who like me, appreciate the photo opportunities that this place offers. It truly is magic. I never tire of seeing the same things here each year. Perhaps it is my love for nature that keeps my enthusiasm and excitement for this place alive, I believe that it is the ever changing seasons and the unending opportunity to experience something new that makes this place so special. A sense of sadness overcomes me as we leave this wonderful place, again I think of leaving an old friend behind, wishing that we can only stay just another day, but then I / remind myself that we will be back again soon only to be overwhelmed by the beauty and excitement that is Banff.
