Sorry for this folks … but I just want to have my say. I agree that a lot of crap (read war, bloodshed, torture and inhumanity) has been perpetrated and is being perpetrated still in the name of politics and religion, but this is NOT the place to discuss it. Unless they’ve taken up a recent membership, it is highly unlikely that anyone in a position of power (no matter how misguided you feel they may be) is ever going to see any of your political statements here on Redbubble. I’m not even saying that you should sit back and let the injustices you see go unanswered, vox populi and all that but can you please do it somewhere it will do some good and not here on the ‘bubble.

Taking the time learning software is – well gotta think of it like nny other kind of learning i guess… / though… there was the block I had last year… / after an horrific eviscerating humitliation diguising itself as a relationship, I couldn’t paint for three months – see the piece Ms Poli and also for the STORY about the… girl…. Kissing Miss Poli I ended up hacking a role playing game on my PC – to the point where I made an utterly convincing version of myself, and my best friend. And my cat. I was not using a modelling editor I was working in in pure code and then just running the game again and again to see what the characters looked like. / 60, 80 hours a week. more. i don’t even know what languages I was using. No idea. / Very weird. I am at heart, somewhere disguised by the er biceps and er so forth – truly, deeply, passionately… a NERD… oh yes, a dungeons and dragon playing, computer building hacker. I just fit all the artist sterotypes and, apart from the former, none of the nerdy freak ones. / When I was trying to find the texture files to get the right kind of coat to match the cat that I so adored. I FINALLY thought – dude. this may wel be insane. SO – I took the time to learn some more photoshop stuff and used my digital 12 meg cam PROPERLY, allowing me to upload a full 12 meg image of this piece. I suppose I should delete the other one but I can’t… the comment mean too much to me. Ex-girlfriend, my hand is the link. This is the heart of that text: / I did it on the train to university when I was in second year, around 1998, I think. I love this piece. It is definitively unusual. I invented the face though it looks like one of my ex girlfriends, Sarah Mennie. I should track her down, though I believe she lives in Adelaide now. She was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Anywhere. She was an alcoholic, and more mad than I was. There was something utterly gentle about her, and she loved me so hard, so deeply. I remember when I was coming down from a manic drinking bender and I was having an intense anxiety attack (two of the LEAST descriptive words in the english language – when you are having an anxiety attack you are convinced you are dying. It is one of the most horrible things that I have ever gone through, an unstoppable avalnache of fear – anyway:) - And she held me so tightly and started crying too. I know she loved me, perhaps more than anyone else in my life. I didn’t catch her beauty in this piece, but there is something of her in the eyes, some doomed gentleness. Ah well. I cheated on her. I was manic and 21. I was a bastard. I am sorry, yes. Sorrowful, yes. Oh, Sarah, I still think of you. I hope you are ok, I hope that you have lived. That you have stopped drinking. That you are happy. Whew. Now to see if my lame poverty indueced sucky dasl will hold out for the upload. Thank you, thank you all… your comments help me and give me hope in hell (I am presently in the one day a week of respite I manage to carve from the week. Has been a fortnight of torture this time though. Yeh. I have this day. I do. Paul

One of my “famous” Marker Pen and Tippex (correction fluid) works… you have to work fast using Tippex… but sometimes inspiration visits when your unprepared.

This was e-mailed to me earlier this year – i thought it was priceless and VERY, VERY relevant. After reading a Forum topic, I thought it would be appropriate to post this. Having been a secretary for many years, i find the degradation of our (English) language appalling; I also think it’s bad manners not to take the time to make sure your contribution is correct in all ways. However, as one member said in the Forum thread, i find myself biting my tongue rather than correcting or criticizing someone – they are contributing and that is what RedBubble is all about. I’m not claiming to be perfect in my use of my language, I make mistakes which I sometimes miss. With the ability to Edit Posts, I will be able to crrect them as soon as I see them. I find it very hard not to correct THIS!!! :-)

Are you a Mozilla Firefox browser user? Sick of working out if you are spelling a word correctly (either with an external program, or having to open a paper-dictionary, or worse yet, opening Microsoft Word)? / The people at Mozilla have had an answer available. It’s one easy step to add the dictionary and spell-checker to Mozilla Firefox for your language of choice. Now you can type your Journal and Writing knowing you’ve spelt that werd rite, corectly and without riping your hair oubt. Nough, whenever a word is spelld rong, a red line apears under it. Right click over that word to get a choice of alturnative words to replace it. If you haven’t checked for updates/upgrades in a while, it’s definitely time … because the spell-checker is finally a standard in the program download! Schweet! 1. Menu Bar at top of browser screen. / (Menu,Edit,View,History,Bookmarks,Tools,Help) / 2. Click on ‘Help’. Go down DropMenu till you find ‘Check for Updates’. / 3. Just sit and wait – the browser does the rest for you. / 4. Follow the prompts carefully – your browser may need to close down to apply updates.

Its apolitical, aPolitically correct, and just a lekker place for me and my neophytes (read mostly family and friends) to further my personal agendas! (and some of those of my neophytes that are really nice to me). This is an organisation with no manifesto and no political agenda (other than me)(and you if you are very nice to me) It has one main goal and that is to get one of my (and any of the said neophytes – you know nice and all that) shots onto the front page. I heard a group of young children today outside a shop, they were quite young. As i stood waiting for my own kids coming out after having bought sweets, etc. The kids at the shop began exchanging comments and a squabble broke out … the language used was foul to say the least … i couldn’t believe it … but i think this is commonplace nowadays and it made me think about the values and morals that young people posess today … God help society and the next generations … what are we as role models to do to fix this ? Sorry about the image … i just wanted to catch your eye … not to offend in anyway … but it is food for thought !!! :-)

I have read many articles and reviews about white balance in photographs. It seems to me that the main point is that it is important to achieve colors so that white on photograps has to look like neutral white on sunny midday. And when lighting conditions are different, we should compensate this in our cameras or color tune photos later with photo editing software. My opinion is that this may be true partially. I believe this is true in portrait photography and when shooting in daylight conditions. This could be true when I take a photo in different lighting conditions and if I want it to look like it was shot on a sunny day. What is true in other cases? I believe that photography one way or another is a way to capture a moment, one single moment. This moment can create emotions or show emotions. Many possibilities … My point is that white does not have to look white all the time. Because after all it is a moment that is captured. For example cloudy day and a wall that usually looks white looks blueish – but that´s ok. Why? Because in that moment that wall is blueish and this is natural, no need to change the way things just are. If I want to change color tones and balance in order to express something then this is OK but it is not the same.
