For all of those of you who can get to Cornwall, or perhaps are already there, I totally recommend this here Eden Project gubbins, it’s the largest biome in the world apparently, and asides from wandering the domes, through African, Malaysian, South American climates and on to the Mediterranean, even the shop reveals mad delights. Pencils made from old CD cases, or car parts, bags made from sweet packets, mousemats from circuit boards (they were fantastic) and, um, cacti. Which I think had always been cacti. They also had this W.E.E.E. chap, (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) 3.3 tonnes of things incredibly well designed to be obsolete soon enough, apparently that’s what an average human throws out in a year. He was massive and his teeth were made from old computer mice. The gardens had hundreds of secret pathways leading to sandpits and restaurants and sculptures, which was quite fun, but wandering through banana groves, cashew nut trees, swamps, 60m palms, waterfalls and horseradish trees in the humidity of the dome, without really being too aware of the covering was the best. I mean, you can look up and go ‘Oh no way, I am not in the Brazillian rainforest, I am at the bottom end of England in a massive greenhouse.’ but you’re only spoiling your own fun. The food available was equally superb. I actually half went to see The Raconteurs, who were playing at The Eden Sessions that happen every year. Yes, I know they aren’t as good as The White Stripes, whom I’m slightly obsessive over, but their albums are 50/50 and you have to see a band before you can write them off completely. As it happens it all looked so damn cool everywhere, I could barely focus on the gig. But for those of you who were appalled at their second album, well, it makes a bit more sense live. Anyway, this isn’t a story, and it doesn’t have a point, but if you happen to be anywhere near the south west of England, pop in, get yourself a biro that used to be a Playstation.

Hi all. / As some of you may already know, this Saturday, 20th September, sees the beginning of the Veal’s annual World Tour of Cornwall. (Kernow for my Celtic friends) staying in Looe / We will be away for a whole week, and we are now going to start getting all the equipment ready, and cleaned, and make sure it is working ok. / During or mammoth week away, I hope to get some good shots to go into my other profile, The Last Look Project, which has been in planning for a while, and this week away will hopefully give it the ‘kick start’ it needs, and to highlight the decline of the fishing industry in the South West. So if you have not looked in yet, please do so, and feel free to add that one to your watchlist as well, as you may not see the sights for much longer. / So now you know why we wont be around much, but will be looking in when we can today and tomorrow before we go. / See you all soon. Hey guys, How are you all doing? I though I better keep you all in the picture (so to speak) as to where I’ve been for the last couple of weeks because some of you thought I was dead. LOL Well as you can see, I’m not. I am alive, well and kicking and back from a wonderful holiday with my dear wife Jackie. The first week we flew up to Scotland for five days which was just amazing. We met up with David Milne (a fellow bubbler) who took 2 days off from work just to take Jackie and me around part of his beautiful country. He’s a great guy and he took us around to some of his special places. I got loads of shots and will be uploading a couple in a few days as I don’t want to bore you with thousands of photos of the same thing. After we flew back from Scotland we drove down to Cornwall to spend a week with my lovely mum again and again got loads of shots. I phoned Catherine and Richard Veal (fellow bubblers) while we were down there driving around near to Dartmoor as Dawlish isn’t too far from there. We met up and had a wonderful time. The following day we met up with our close friend and fellow bubbler Andy Reeve who took us along the Helford River and other places which I can’t remember their names. Later in the evening he treated us to a fantastic meal. That’s about it for now. So let me get over the journey and I’ll be back very soon with a few shots. Take care and I’ll see y’all soon. Tony / x

Hughes Pump House – MOONTA Yorke Peninsula, South Australia The historic town of Moonta is approximately 165 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, in the upper Yorke Peninsula region known alternately as South Australia’s ‘Copper Triangle’ or ‘Little Cornwall’. The Moonta Mines State Heritage Area extends approximately 2.5 kilometres east-west, and 3.5 kilometres north-south, of the town. It covers most of the former Moonta Mining Company lease, and includes the main mining, industrial and residential components of Moonta Mines and Yelta. The town of Moonta on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia was the place that in 1861, Paddy Ryan found copper traces coming out of a wombats burrow. The wombat’s burrow was on the pastoral lease of Walter Sir Walter Watson Hughes. Hughes formed the Tipara Mining Company, which later became the Moonta Mining Co. More information on Moonta & its Mines please have a look at these links below: / History of Moonta“ Map of Moonta“

Hi Susan, / All my animals were free range on the farm. So if, for instance, I went to fix a fence in the top field I was followed by a crowd of my goats, ponies, chinese geese, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl and the cats. Oh and the odd seagull. They were all pretending that they were not actually following me of course. Thus occured our first meeting with Wayne and Shane in the next farms field.

The Eden Project in Cornwall is, in my opinion, one of the most worthwhile tourist and educational projects in the world. We first went in 2001 when the terraces were first planted and the biodomes were just getting started. At our most recent visit in 2008 we were astounded by the progress of the gardens, the domes and the aims of the project itself. Natural growth, science and art sit side by side in educational splendour awaking the senses and opening the mind to new ideas and ways of living. If you get nothing else out of visit, the breathtaking beauty of the plant life is something that will stay with you for always. The profits from wall art and cards for sale in my Eden Collection will be donated back to the Eden Project to support future generations of beauty and learning.
