This shot was taken with a Canon AE1 35mm camera about 15 years ago and scanned into the computer. Then I tweaked it a little in Photoshop Elements 5 High on top of Carn Brea (700 feet above sea level) you will find Carn Brea Castle which looks out at some stunning views of the surrounding countryside of Cornwall. Redruth, Brea, Carnkie and Camborne are a few of the towns near by. The Castle itself can be traced back to 1379. It is a stone twin towered fortress, built by the Bassett family and is inside the ramparts of the Iron Age hill fort. It was probably built has a hunting lodge, or as a chapel to St Michael. It has been restored and extended over the years, and today has the look of a modern folly, rather than a medieval fort. The views from this spot are splendid, and you can see for miles on a bright evening. / All the Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted or Uploaded In Anyway Without My Permission. Can’t stop shooting in trios… part 2.
Last of the sun over Whitsand Bay in South East Cornwall. This area is known as the forgotten corner of Cornwall, and as such has remained pretty much unspoilt. Most coves along this stretch of coastline are quite a trek down cliff paths to get to, but well worth the effort. Just reserve a bit of energy to get back up! Godrevy Lighthouse / Position 50 14’.5 N 05 23’.9 W / Godrevy Island is situated 3½ miles across St.Ives Bay, where rugged cliffs rise from the sea. Gulls, oyster-catchers and pipits make their homes on the island, which is partly covered with grass, as it slopes down to the sea. In springtime, carpets of brightly coloured primroses, sea thrift and heather bring beauty to the scene, for although the island is close to the mainland, it is open to the full force of Atlantic gales. A dangerous reef extends outwards towards St.Ives, called the Stones and on this many vessels have come to grief. On 30th November 1854, the iron screw steamer NILE was totally wrecked with the loss of all passengers and crew, and under public and mercantile pressure, Trinity House finally decided to erect a lighthouse in 1859. James Walker designed the station, and its welcome light shone out on 1st March of that same year. Two keepers were originally appointed to the lighthouse and they maintain the two lights, one a bright flashing white every 10 seconds, and the other fixed red, which marked the Stones Rocks. Their range was 17 and 15 miles respectively. The white octagonal tower, 26 metres high, is made from rubble stone bedded in mortar, and is sited together with its adjoining keepers’ cottages almost in the centre of the largest of the rocks. The cost of the station was £7,082 15s 7d. The original optic revolved on rollers on a circular race and was driven by a clockwork motor. This motor was in turn driven by a large weight running down a cavity in the wall of the tower. The station was also equipped with a 3cwt bell as a Fog signal, and this was struck once every 5 seconds. The lighthouse was altered in 1939, when a new 2nd order fixed catadioptric lens was installed, together with an acetylene burner. The fog bell was also removed, the keepers withdrawn and the lighthouse made automatic. Finally Godrevy Lighthouse was modernised in 1995 when it was converted to solar powered operation. The lighthouse is now monitored and controlled from the Trinity House Operations Control Centre at Harwich in Essex. A photograph I took of Golitha Falls in Autumn, pronounced “Goleetha” Golitha Falls are situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor on the River Fowey in an extremely attractive setting. The water cascades for over 800 yards for which most of this has a footpath running alongside the river.
I always look forward to visiting here when on holiday in the area. / This is the first time we actually witnessed a sunset, in the 20 years of coming here. / Taken on the cliff top above Kynance Cove, on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, UK. A gorgeous place to visit and watch the wildlife and the sun set. Hope you like it. / Thank you for looking. Pentax K110D. / Pentax 18-55mm Lens.
Taken around Midsummer in gorgeous late evening light on the clifftop at Lands End, Cornwall, the most Westerly point on the UK mainland and the nearest town is Penzance, more than 10 miles away.. It looks quite warm with the late evening sunshine but I do recall it being bitterly cold at the time, but worth it to get that warm lateral light on the rugged coastline with the Atlantic waves crashing on the rocks below. It looks like the sea has exploded against the rock. This is a scanned image of a picture taken in the late 70’s, at Lizard Point in Cornwall. / In all of my visits there since, I have never seen anything like this again. Lizard Point is the most southerly part of mainland Britain, and the nearest main town is Helston. Scanned Image. / Taken on 35mm film. / Olympus OM1N. / Seiko 50mm 1.8 (?) Lens. Hope you like it. / Thanks for looking.
Porth Nanven is probably one of Cornwall’s most enchanting but least accessible locations. Perhaps it’s because the National Trust, the owners of this precious and geologically unique piece of coastline, would prefer that the numbers of visitors were kept to a minimum. Whatever the reason, don’t be surprised if you find yourself embarking on a circuitous route around the back streets of St Just as you make your way down to this remarkable place. Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens. Exposure of 5 seconds at f/16.
Just back from a wonderfull week in Cornwall. This was sunset on the last evening at Sennen Cove near Landsend…...what a finish to the week . Had been watching 7 basking sharks here during the afternoon too :)
22.6.09 – Taken with a Fujifilm 10mp s8100. Another shot of the amazing sunset on Monday at Trebarwtih Strand on the North Cornwall coast. The sun was so intense it was making the rocks along the shoreline glow red.

Taken at Church Cove, Lizard Point, Cornwall, UK. / Looking WSW. The Lizard Peninsula is full of quaint fishing villages, coves and creeks, and has a beautiful rugged landscape. Soft edge added in Picasa3. Hope you like it. / Thanks for looking. Best Viewed Large.
well I’m leaving this morning / squeeze in one final shot / a photograph longing to live / passed the time that’s gone quickly / the time that’s gone slow / now the time has but nothing to give words written on postcards / are making the claim / without question I have been to this place / and backed up by this picture / I’m guilty as charged / it’s written all over my face sneak into the cave / past the sniggering rockpools / that caused me to submerge my toes / to then be met by the falling / of suicide droplets / each one pounding considerable blows tripod legs planted / camera scanning the scene / hunting for the lay of the land / but it’s so dark in here / the lens struggles to focus / as I try to work out where to stand and meanwhile the waves are rushing away / either shy / or unfashionably late / there’s too much dark inside / and the outside’s aglow / it’s a contrast I can’t quite equate so this might be the one time / I venture these caves / for shame the shot wasn’t quite right / but if chance should allow to recapture somehow / it won’t be the dark that I dismiss / it’ll be the light —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Portreath, Cornwall, England © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk
speckled dots deceiving eyes / in black and white, the camera lies? frozen moments locked in lens / as crashing waves are meeting ends with every surge they come to blows / closest friends turned hostile foes charge in hard and rise above / hold their pose then fall, in love never meant for our eyes gaze / yet they’ll return, just count the days —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Porthleven, Cornwall, England © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk I should note that I intentionally left this quite grainy, along with the vignetting for an old pinhole camera style shot.
Another pic from Sennen Cove on the south-west tip of Cornwall. Shot back in June , and after a week of dissapointing sunsets, nature gave us a break on a last night :) Once again thankyou so much for all your comments and support x x Canon 400D + sigma 10-20mm
I first photographed this location about 5 years ago, the image that I took back then has since appeared in a number of magazines. I decided it was about time to revisit and see if I have improved in that time. Canon 5D Mk1 17-40 F4L at 32mm
