The Church of St. Andrew in Stratton is situated just over a mile inland from the Town of Bude. Over the Centuries the Norman Church has enlarged considerably incorporating much history as it has grown over time. The doomsday survey implies that there could of been a Church in Stratton before the Norman Conquest & extensive restoration in 1888 uncovered traces of what undoubtedly could of been it’s norman predecessor directly beneath. The oldest feature to be seen is the granite font which is quite simplistic but dates back to the 12th Century & this is the time when the true history of St. Andrew starts to unfold. for information on Stratton & it’s church go to www. bude.co.uk/church-trails/Bude/Stratton.htm anyway that information was for craig shillington enough history, we posted some self portraits for the self portrait feature, that about all for now Happy bubbling Paul, sue & tiggs

o.k. you may well ask what has us so excited that we have to write a journal about it? well it isn’t the fact that we downloaded norton antivirus software & now find that we have to start our computer 25 mins before we need to use it! any one else find that? nothing to do with that, it’s the fact the Vulcan has taken to the skies again, watch out for photo’s of that beast next year, awesome craft, also the fact that we are selling from galleries now helps us finding the right way forward & to be fair it ain’t boot sales though we shall keep doing them, me & Sue actually enjoy going out & meeting people in that envoirement, so this winters tasks are! building our own website, plan an exhibition of our work for next year ne ideas you may have will be well recieved & paid attention to, half term over here yes I know hard to believe that the children only went back to school like 3 – 4 weeks ago any way happy bubbling journal you soon

o.k. so why we been put on hold? due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to postpone our first exhibition by 4 Days, not to bad but the last minute rush to make sure the work was all completed on time was a killer especially with a new born Baby, talking of which brings a lot of responsibility but alot of hapiness with Him also, wouldn’t give him up for the world, anyway the work we have completed for the exhibition is stunning to say the least, though we are slightly biased but if you in the area of the Southwest of england in the next month do give it a look, other things going on me & Sue have taken to sleeping in shift’s not that bad he is giving us 4 hours a time but you always need a top up on sleep, especially my angel Sue! bless anyway got to go now & do things or stuff might just have a surf around the bubble land for a hour or two Happy bubbling Paul,Sue,Thomas & Tiggs

I’ve just come home to London after having been away for two very different occasions; firstly my son Joe passed out from the Royal Marine’s on the 13th March and then we had my Father-in-law David’s funeral in Redruth Cornwall on the 16th March. After that my wife and I had a few days to recover, now she’s in Cornwall sorting out her father’s estate with her sister. I’ve had to come home and get ready to return to work. During my time away I took the opportunity to rise early and get out to get the lovely Sunrises over Penzance and Falmouth in Cornwall and to photograph Land’s End, Portreath, St Agnes Head, Truro, North Cliffs, Carn Brea, Mine ruins and soooo many more. I just loved my return visit to Cornwall, what a glorious place to live on God’s good Earth. I’ll be posting some pics soon for everyone to enjoy. / Meanwhile, here’s a pic of my Father-in-law David Williamson that we used on the Order of Service for his Funeral. We called that service a celebration of his life. God bless, it’s good to be back again. I look forward to catching up with all your recent works. Don.

I love Landscape Photography books although due to their high quality they tend to be hideously expensive so generally I only get them as requested gifts at Christmas time. Speaking for myself I can’t think of a better way to develop your ability to take better photographs than by studying the work of the true masters of the craft. In line with this I thought I’d start reviewing some of my fav’s for anyone out there in bubble land who may happen to be interested. Book Review # 1: Scotlands Coast – Joe Cornish To my own surprise one of my all time favorite Landscape Photography book is not of Tasmanian or anywhere in Australia despite my photographers heart firmly residing here, it is of Scotland. Commissioned by The National Trust for Scotland, Joe obviously spent a huge amount of time with his 15kg of large format photography gear exploring the staggering 10,000km of coastline that surrounds Scotland. In the process he has amassed a portfolio of staggering quality and aesthetic which has seen me return to admire and study his work and style an enormous amount. Beautifully presented with wonderful explanitive notes at the end of the book it is in my opinion a must have for any aspiring photographers of this discipline. Another reason I love the book is that he has generally tried to feature wild landscapes rather than mans presence on it and not surprisingly lists the beloved Peter Dombrovskis as a big inspiration. You can visit Joe’s site here just make sure you still share the love with us little aspiring photographers too… lol. Cheers Trav
