  • based on Madron Holy Well in South Cornwall. The tradition of hanging offerings of flowers and rags and ribbons is still in practice today amongst Pagans in the UK. • Pentire Head, North Cornwall, UK on an October evening. HDR. Pentax K 10D.

  • Port Isaac, Cornwall The centuries old village and harbour of Port Isaac is situated on the Atlantic coast, mid-way between Newquay and Bude, Cornwall, UK. From the Middle Ages until the 1850s, Port Isaac was a busy port, handling stone, coal, timber and pottery. With the advent of the railways, it became principally a fishing port. UK TV viewers will know it as the location for the classic period drama ‘Poldark’ and more recently for the drama/comedy series ‘Doc Martin’, starring Martin Clunes. Long before the pier was built in the 16th century, the village had a smuggling past and was associated with a gentleman(!) by the name of Cruel Copinger! This shot was taken 22 years ago on Fujichrome slide film, and recently scanned using a Plustek OpticFilm 7200. Since being chosen as the Devon and Cornwall group avatar, this has become my most viewed shot on this site with over 640 views to date and it looks great as a laminated print … or even framed … Date: 13th July 1987

  • I think this is the first time I was able to get as close as I was to this beautiful fellow. I was so pleased when I uploaded it onto the computer and saw the results. Believe me this has had selective colouring on the shot it is just that the owl is mainly white. The original shot was taken in The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre & Animal Park in Cornwall. I have been playing about with it again; a crop here to focus tight on his beautiful eyes and selective colouring there and this is the result which I love. I hope you like it and thank you for viewing. The selective colouring was made in Photoshop Elements 6 NIKON D60 DSLR / F-stop f/9 / Exposure time 1/500 sec / ISO speed 100 / Aperture priority / Focal length 190 mm on a 70 – 300 mm Nikon lens All the materials contained may not be reproduced, copied, edited, published, transmitted or uploaded in any way without my permission. • Cornish Rex Cat

  • A bright red fishing boat with reflection on a smooth sea

  • During my recent holiday to Cornwall, I was going down to Cape Cornwall, a few miles East of Land’s End on the North coast. It was a beautiful late afternoon and on the way down to the Cape I looked over to my right and was delighted to see five highland cattle grazing, my immediate thoughts, as a Scot were, you’re not the only Scot in Cornwall. In the background the Headland is know as Kenidjack Castle headland, you may just be able to see the ruins of the iron age fortress Kenidjack Castle high on the headland, well it certainly stands out viewed at the full resolution, PLEASE VIEW LARGER Nikon D300 / 18 – 70 zoom @ 44mm / F11 for 1/80 sec / WB set to Sunny / CP Filter

  • The Brisons from Porth Nanven Beach , South West Cornwall

  • well I’m leaving this morning / squeeze in one final shot / a photograph longing to live / passed the time that’s gone quickly / the time that’s gone slow / now the time has but nothing to give words written on postcards / are making the claim / without question I have been to this place / and backed up by this picture / I’m guilty as charged / it’s written all over my face sneak into the cave / past the sniggering rockpools / that caused me to submerge my toes / to then be met by the falling / of suicide droplets / each one pounding considerable blows tripod legs planted / camera scanning the scene / hunting for the lay of the land / but it’s so dark in here / the lens struggles to focus / as I try to work out where to stand and meanwhile the waves are rushing away / either shy / or unfashionably late / there’s too much dark inside / and the outside’s aglow / it’s a contrast I can’t quite equate so this might be the one time / I venture these caves / for shame the shot wasn’t quite right / but if chance should allow to recapture somehow / it won’t be the dark that I dismiss / it’ll be the light —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Portreath, Cornwall, England © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk

  • speckled dots deceiving eyes / in black and white, the camera lies? frozen moments locked in lens / as crashing waves are meeting ends with every surge they come to blows / closest friends turned hostile foes charge in hard and rise above / hold their pose then fall, in love never meant for our eyes gaze / yet they’ll return, just count the days —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Porthleven, Cornwall, England © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk I should note that I intentionally left this quite grainy, along with the vignetting for an old pinhole camera style shot.
