She was originally named Lydia Liliu Loloku Walania Wewehi Kamaka’eha, Lydia Liliuokalani Paki, and also known as Lydia Kamakaʻeha Paki, with the chosen royal name of Liliʻuokalani. Queen Liliʻuokalani was an accomplished author and songwriter. Her book, Hawaiʻi’s Story by Hawaiʻi’s Queen, gave her view of the history of her country and her overthrow and therefore became the first Native Hawaiian female author. Liliʻuokalani was known for her musical talent. Lili’u is said to have played guitar, piano, organ, ‘ukulele and zither. She also sang alto, performing Hawaiian and English sacred and secular music. She would find herself in music. In her memoirs she wrote: “to compose was as natural to me as to breathe. This gift remains a source of the greatest consolation.” She wrote over 165 songs and chants. Some of her best-known musical compositions include the song, “Aloha ʻOe”, “The Queen’s Jubilee”, “He Mele Lahui Hawai’i”, and “Ku’u Pua I Paoakalani” ~ Source: Wikipedia

CORAL SEA DREAMING HD will have it’s world premiere at this years Underwater festival UF09 which is to be hosted at Byron Bay, Australia. Join me there, at this fab event, Sat 2nd May, and introduce yourself to me if i don’t know who you are. / details 8 years in the making, Coral Sea Dreaming HD brings together the world-class cinematography of Emmy Award Winner, David Hannan, with an original musical score by Australian composer Tania Rose. Shot on State-of-the-Art High Definition technology, it chronicles over 2000 dives on the last three great coral reef ecosystems on earth: the Great Barrier Reef, Ningaloo Reef, and Papua New Guinea Over 84 extraordinary minutes, Coral Sea Dreaming HD enters the very heart of life – and death – on a coral reef. Amongst the thousands of marine creatures represented, there are courting manta rays, oceanic sharks, turtles, cuttlefish, alien sea slugs, and massive fish schools reminiscent of a bygone age I’m stoked that it’s finally arrived!!

/ BRAG TIME! / if you’re in Melbourne, you can go to Federation Square and watch a film called CORAL SEA DREAMING 2, an epic undersea film of magnificent cinematography by Australia’s own Emmy Award-winner David Hannan and music by yours truly, Tania Rose. This film is an extraordinary visual feast, and is probably the last we will see of much of the marine life of the coral reefs, as the reefs around the globe are as we speak becoming extinct :(. David is the world leader of undersea cinematography and provides a lot of footage for marine scientists and their studies. Shot in Hi-Definition, Coral Sea Dreaming 2 is a collection of his best work. It is indeed both an honour and a privilege to be involved in this project, on many levels, not least of which is the fact that this is both a celebration and a tribute to something the Earth is losing with dire consequences. The earth is precious…more precious than ourselves
