This silly old coot is always a pain in the bum.
This is a panorama from Mount Coot-tha taken on Easter Sunday, 2008.
I wanted to try this after seeing the idea. I had a lot of fun over an afternoon (and I got to eat the strawberries!). /
Late afternoon silhouette of a coot swimming in Seattle’s Green Lake. Canon 40D.
This was taken on the first outing with my digital camera to the Mt Coot-ha Botanic Gardens.
An American coot takes a running start on a pond in the marshland near Fern Ridge Lake in Lane County, Oregon. April 2009.
Baby Coot looking relieved as he surfaced after an experimental dive in the University of York lake. They can’t feed themselves yet, but at least they can now go down & come back up! One of his siblings was yelling loudly for mum after HIS dive. 150year old shearing shed in Barossa Valley. Still used. My sister-in-law’s family run a sheep, cattle and cropping farm. /
Went to a nearby bay to shoot a sunset – big flop, but I picked up some urchins, driftwood and sponges from the beach. Thanks to Stephen Chapple for the inspiration. /
Some more variations on my glasses theme /
As seen from Mt Coot-tha, Brisbane, Queensland on the 28th of August 2007.
The lake at the University of East Anglia (Norwich, Norfolk, UK) is home to many types of birds. Here you see a lone coot, making its way across the lake at dusk. Taken with a Canon EOS 450D. Featured in Colors of Water, The Beauty of the European Waters and European Everyday Life, February 2009.
This is another infrared photo and probably my favourite so far.
A coot on Seattle’s Green Lake on his journey across the lake.
Taken from the fern house at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha.
This was taken today on the Northerners day out at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield. It was a beautiful day and very hot and sunny. I think everyone had as good a day as I had.
a baby Coot, still so young he hadn’t any hair on his head, He is a bald headed Coot. haha / I suppose that is where the expression comes from ‘as bald as a coot’. / This little chaps head was bright red, he looked sunburned.
Found these seeds at the Botanical gardens at Mt Coot-tha. These seeds are no more than 1cm big. It’s got a great textural feel and looks like tiny roots covering the seed. I never had a chance to take note of what tree this came from as the mozzies were just about carrying me away! I just love my passion of macro photography. With the naked eye, it would be very hard to really see the detail in these tiny seeds.
Taken at the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens. This is the tip of an Agave. This picture was featured on the Red Bubble Home Page on 29/05/2008
This is my first ever Red Bubble upload – I just joined tonight! / My sister-in-law and her husband run a sheep/cattle/cropping farm in the Barossa Valley in South Australia. This shearing shed is over 150year old. The lanolin from thousands and thousands of sheep over that time have given the wood a smooth, rich glow – and it smells like a typical shearing shed! / When we visit next I’m going to try HDR – which should be exciting. / Hope you like this. /
