Now this is cool… How it is done!

Here is another way of viewing my work, it is in a list format and displays the number of comments I have for each Photo… Click Here… This uses a combination of two existing functions already found in RB, Tagging and the Search function. Here is how to do it….. 1. For this to work and for it to display just your work you need to come up with a unique tag. For example your first name and birth date jim28071977 2. This unique tag is entered as a new tag into all existing photos, writings, T’s, etc and add to all future works. 3. When you have done updating all your work with your tag, enter the tag into the search field and hit the Search button…. This will return and display all your work. 4. There is a gray bar just above the top row of your images and has text which will say ‘1 – 24 of 38 wall art, t-shirts and more for [your tag] —-- change layout:’ at the right hand side of the bar are two icons click the first one and your work will be displayed as a list. This is the view, which you want….. 5. Now go up to the menu bar on the top of the page and copy the link in the address bar it will look something like this http://www.redbubble.com/search/find/yourtag?display_mode=list 6. All you need to do is copy this into your profile page in the area that you write your description. / The format is “To see my work displayed as a list…. Click Here” : http://www.redbubble.com/search/find/yourtag?display_mode=list Note: you have to remove the space before the colon just after the quotation marks…. Good luck! PS You can also click on the “Related items” menu at the side that will sort and display your work into cards, posters, etc…... UPDATE: There has been some more changes from RB and the filter page is not going to ‘list’ view by using the code described above…. / However if you add ‘&page=1’ to the end of the URL this seems to force it to display as a list (see example below) / http://www.redbubble.com/search/webbew?display_mode=list&page=1

Anthill Cool Company Awards 2008
by Faith HunterI’ve nominated RedBubble for the 2008 Anthill Magazine Cool Company Awards. Its …
I’ve nominated RedBubble for the 2008 Anthill Magazine Cool Company Awards. Its really refreshing when you see someone getting out there and trying to do something both inspiring and creative in the business world and I think it’s important to bring attention not only to efforts like RedBubble but also to magazines like AntHill who themselves provide a more inspired view of Australian business. The Awards reflect this in that “Unlike most business award programs, the Cool Company Awards are judged against a combination of objective and subjective criteria.” Anthill also describe the awards as “extremely egalitarian. Previous winners have included two-person start-ups, not-for-profit social enterprises, large private companies and publicly-listed corporations.” I’m not sure which category RedBubble would best fall into, the Commercial Creativity Award or the Online Business Award maybe? Hell, I don’t even know that they are a successful business? But I figure the Anthill researchers can check all the fine details before nominations proceed to the next stage. For all I know RedBubble aren’t even interested, have already put themselves forward for nomination or are closely related to the tea-lady’s first-cousin’s wife and therefore ineligible but hell, it can’t hurt to fill in a form and press ‘submit’ can it? And while this isn’t direct promotion of any individual or group’s work whats’s good for RedBubble should be good for all of us!

Cool Effect with the Shape Tool

Here’s a cool effect that you may want to try out at sometime. Create a new file 500px X 600 px with a transparent b/ground @ 72 dpi and then duplicate the layer. This is just a file to practise on :-) Grab your Shape Tool and choose Custom, then go to the top toolbar and pick the black triangle shape. Working from the centre of the image, draw the shape upwards past the top of the file edge (see image below), you might want to bring up the transform tool by using Ctrl + T on the keyboard to get the shape how you want it, then duplicate the shape layer. Once you have duplicated the shape layer, go to the history palette and take a snapshot of the work so far. If your history palette isn’t visible go to Window>History and click on History. To take the snapshot use the middle icon (it looks like a camera). With the duplicate layer active, bring up the Transform Tool by clicking Ctrl + T on the keyboard. In the centre of the box that appears for the transform tool you will see a small circle with four small arms sticking out (this is the rotation axis for the transform) you will need to drag that down to the centre of the bottom line. With your cursor outside of the transform bounding box, rotate the shape to the right or left – whatever takes your fancy. Then you can hit the enter button to accept it. You’re probably wondering why I told you to take a snapshot when you had duplicated the shape layer – it was because the next part of this doesn’t always turn out correctly spaced and you will have to go back to the snapshot to start again :) Taking the snapshot after you duplicated the shape layer, means that you can bring up the transform tool again and try a different rotation – more or less, depending on how it turned out the first time. You should still be working on the shape copy layer, now, hold down the Ctrl + Shift + Alt keys and then press the T key repeatedly until you have as many of the shapes in place as you want. You should end up with something similar to the first image – although yours may be properly centered :) When you click onto the previous shape layer or b/ground layer, the bounding boxes will go away. You can see that mine didn’t quite end up centered and that I would need to paint in the small area top right that didn’t quite fill. You could merge the 2 shape layers at this point and lock the transparency to fill the shapes with a gradient or different colour. You could also clip an image with the shapes, you could also fill the b/ground with a colour or image – play around with it a little bit and see what you can come up with. On the first image I filled the b/ground layer with black, merged the 2 shape layers, locked the transparency of the layer and then filled with a circular gradient. On the 2nd image I simply used a 3 pixel black centered stroke on the shapes after I had filled it with the gradient.

So very cool: my Heart Burning was sold. Twice!
by iCandorThey say: when you’re hot, you’re hot … people noticed my Heart burning-...
They say: when you’re hot, you’re hot … people noticed my Heart burning and, kind and loving beings as they are, bought it from me for full asking price without a blink! First, my very good friend in arts, well known by now for his luminous art and “operating” under the conspicuous names of Mr. B, aka butchart, bought the card version while I was sleeping, tiptoed into RB shop and, without me noticing, bought the card and sneaked right back out as fast as he came. Thank you so, so very much my friend. Just a couple of days later, another very good friend of mine in arts and an outstanding artist, Anthea Slade, have bought my Heart burning in card form and, to make me feel even better, added to it the Tango card, as if to say that she invited my Heart burning to dance. Thank you, thank you, thank you so Anthea. Oh, my good friends in arts, you make me feel too good about my art. / Now, I must better myself again not to dissapoint your kind appreciation. This is such a pleasant burden to have. Thank you so very much again.

Coming up: Update of RedBubble

hehe I just found out how to link images in text, thanks to webgrrl’s nice journal entry And I read that you can also edit journal entries, but not yet comments. So lets see… Yep, editing works easily and nicely. So why cant we edit comments yet? I hope this will come in thursdays RB website update too! Smileys are maybe a good thing not to have as standard option since all these texts with lots of smileys might make the site look less professional, and if people want to use smileys, they can always still use text smileys ofcourse! :) I wonder how RB will make the international payments work. Payments to a skype account? Or directly international bank transfers? Via IBAN number? I have updated my payment info in that respect already, hope to be able to also sell images as of may 24th!
