Milly is sure this little tambatoy can see her, but he is pretending she does not exist….. This print is from original pen drawing, digitally coloured.
I took a trike ride through Portland, Oregon today and this is one of several that I will be posting on “the big city”.
Red Bubble’s First Book /// In the Moment /// Overall Winner / I found myself in Geneva for a week for work last year. The only other time I had been to Switzerland was Zurich for 2 nights in the middle of winter, so I was kind of surprised by the beautiful (and hot!) summer weather I experienced on this visit. / The Lake at Geneva is where everyone goes to cool off and I was mesmerised watching all these crazy dudes doing amazing things off a high-dive on the edge of the lake. I took a few shots and managed to capture this moment among them. / I entered this work into the 2007 Linden Gallery Post Card Show in St.Kilda, and was absolutely stoked to have been awarded one of the six entries to be reproduced as postcards and sold through the gallery.
This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

BABY BULL GETS FAMOUS!!! GRIFFITH REVIEW!! CLICK TO LEARN MORE / Sales of this Design? – 3 sales so far :) / / / “Moo Cow Sunrise Family”: by Karin Taylor is another digital design based on Baby Bull Production (click here to see more) / Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol
This is an image of fire, i have not illustrated this image it is a ‘standard’ digitalk photograph the only changes i have made are cropping and colour corrections.

The defensive Tower house of Smailholm, just over the Scottish border, near Kelso. The tower was built in the mid 1400’s at a time when lawlessness and violent bands of reivers, ravaged the lands both sides of the English-Scottish border. And a solitary white swan, resides below the Tower Even today, the landscape is lonely, and you can easily imagine the starkness of those dark days. Dreary dull, grey, original digital photograph. / Lots of photoshop layers and borrowed sunset from my bonny Northumberland, Budle Bay photo. Inversion and refining with digital painting….. it would have been easier to conventionally paint this!!

Can you feel the coolness in this shot….? Taken in almost pitch blackness and between rain showers…Sometimes, while on location I think – what the hell am I doing here ?...cold, grey, wet, waves threatening to wash me off the rocks !! / This shot re-enforces to me why I do it and why I keep going back for more and more…...
Graphite & PSCS4 / Best in larger version.:0) / I had intended to do a piece with minimal colour, gentle accentuating the illustration. It was inspired by a photo from a magazine. It was snowing heavily in late evening upon our arrival in St Johann, Austria. This lovely lone tree was full of snow and went straight into my must photograph journal, I decided to wait till morning to get the best light. The only thing that stopped my planned photograph, the morning rain. Although this shot was not what I was intending I am happy with the result as the mist did help in isolating the tree. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop, where had my camera been and OMG, how do I stop the sensor getting that dirty? This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
Due to the amazing amount of comments I have had from Solitude I thought I’d share this shot. I couldn’t help myself, I had to walk up to the tree, hence the footprints in the virgin snow, although retracing my footprints to take the photograph was very difficult. This shot was taken in St Johann, Austria. I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. I’m so glad every now and then it snows heavily in England. Just after stuffing the car into a ditch, through expert test driving on ice, ahem, actually practicing handbrake turns, oops. While deciding how to dig the car out on the ditch in Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire, UK, I noticed these lovely trees. / It was a fair old way into the middle of the field to get the right perspective but I’m glad I did. / I hope you like it. Greeting Cards / Framed Print / Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 57mm, f/9, 1/400 sec, ISO 400. No filters used. Dust and scratches removed in PS.
