Car wash east of Melbourne.

A compilation of photography and illustration for something new and fun. This photo was turned into an advertisement for a condom company.

I’ve bought six new IKEA glasses but one of them got broken when I washed it for the first time. Of course, I wouldn’t just throw it away, as well as my daughter couldn’t throw away a Camellia blossom she has found fallen at the ground two days later… / I believe these two imperfect subjects made a perfect combination. What do you think?

A winter panorama shot of the valley Valldal on the west coast of Norway, taken during the christmas holiday. Stitched together of 15 pictures. Post-processing: / Stitched some pictures together, obviously. Fixed the contrast with curves, added a lighter curve only on the lower part as the valley was pretty dark, and the mountain tops really light. Added two black and white layers set to hard light (140%), mainly on the sky and the mountain tops.

Since greeting cards are officially available on RB, I decided to let one of my favorite babes join the big pool as well. This piece was created based on the idea of fractal, though I didn’t use any fractal softwares to make it. I will write more details on this later on. By the way, if you want a print of mighty big scale (36”x36” to be exact), it’s availabe on my shop.

Bloke walking up stairs of a block of flats at Kangaroo Point in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, carrying a bag. A photo from a photography class assignment in 1994, and one of my faves ever. Dark and enigmatic, but emblematic of single-minded purpose, metaphor of life’s journey. Dig the repeating cellular and tooth elements. He is walking into the maw of the beast. Dig likewise, the directionality implied by the arrow-heads formed, big, black arrows opposing the man’s forward movement, light arrows formed of concrete faces, buoying him upward, corresponding dark spaces threaten to drag back down. Counterposed forces, on the stairs themselves grinding on each other like shark-teeth set to lacerate a surfer’s legs. Somehow he stays afloat. Does he have any choice? Up, turn. Up, turn. His path is layed out for him. Where does it lead? Ultimately, back down—Newton, 1687. Up is a dead end. I could shit on like this for hours. There should be more like this. Please take more? Hand-processed b&w photo, scanned and digitally restored.

Back on 1st January 2008 I started out on the 1.1.1 Challenge set by Claire to capture the year 2008 in photographs, taking a single photo, every day for the whole of the year… Anyway, 6 months down the line and with the Challenge Cafe hosting a competition strictly for “New” work, then I thought what better than to highlight this challenge once again… and to show that I’m still at it! Every new day brings a new picture… I felt that this self portrait reflects a lot of what I have been doing lately… a lot more black and white and an ever growing love of high contrast and drama. Here’s to another good 6 months…

Original Image – The Tea Factory, Liverpool First in a possible series of a recurring character and his adventures in Liverpool. Photo manipulation where the light from the torch is seen casting a shadow. Really pleased with the result and shall continue to find suitable locations for edit.

I am sailing home again cross the sea. / I am sailing, stormy waters, to be near you, to be free…

Part of a (now not so short) series of images taken in an authentic and derelict church manse (Abbey) in Glebe, Sydney. It was located on the same piece of land as the original Church (which was also disused). These shots were taken during two visits – the second and last visit spooked me so much I’ll not be going back…the stairwell was just incredible – its on the left (this is downstairs).

Done things with this image before, but this is my favourite! Enjoy!! _

Maddie, my Himalayan cat, in one of her moods. At the time that I took this photo, I had no clue it was my last. She passed away Nov. 6. She gave me 19 years of purrrfect happiness….

A fairly classical life drawing study using acrylic, compressed charcoal on paper… I was experiementing with dark shadows and moody lighting. Most of the people in my drawings were friends I hung around with at art school… none of us had money for models so we just drew each other.
