In the famous legend, Lady Godiva so sympathizes with her subjects’ suffering under her husband’s oppressive taxes that she pleads with him to lift the tariffs and give the people some relief. Sick of her persistence and wanting to call her bluff, Leofric tells her he will lift the tax if she rides naked through the city and to his surprise, Godiva does, after instructing the townspeople to shutter their windows and stay inside. (I AM NOT AN ARTIST I AM JUST A MAN WHO PAINTS.L.S.LOWRY).... I have been painting as an amateur artist on and off for many years.I have over the years developed a very unusual use of colour and content, which I now know from experience appeal to many people, Including individual collectors and dealers. Newcastle upon Tyne England has been a hotbed of heavy Industry since the beginning of the industrial revolution, most of which has now gone forever. A lot of my paintings are recollections of youthful images of the period, late 1940s and 1950s. They are inspired by local naïve and primitive pitmen artists I am also an admirer of L.S.LOWRY, and the great American artist EDWARD HOPPER .AND GRANMA MOSES among others. Rusted from the outside inward, these iron wheels once helped the chains and belts move around inside this massive machine. Why so much, so big, so many cogs? Careful scrutiny of all sides of this photographic wonder has me believing that the moving parts inside this retired beast helped turn the combination of an Cultivator, Seeder and Auger. After giving life to the land, the rusted remains sit retired beneath the dead-gums.
