Acrylic on canvas / “Australian Magpies on red background” This work just seems to have the right elements of black red and white that almost everyone that sees it just loves it. / It wasn’t that important a painting to me (although i liked it and was happy with it) but once EVERYONE wanted one it kind of became my signature piece! / I liked that the magpies even though they are almost 2D in shape still held you captivated with their real looking eyes, the red background is brilliant and bright and the whole combination works a treat. / Magpies are cheeky creatures and such an everyday Australian sight that i think that has an appeal as well. / I think I’ve done ..god about 12 different magpies now and i’m totally over them and i dont care how popular they are NO MORE… so enjoy these…. they are the original and best!

The Sassafras tree is growing on the Myrtle tree. Like most rainforest trees in Tasmania, they can live of each other without destroying themselves. When a tree falls over or dies, often another one will take up the nutrient and continue to grow in this amazing environment. / I have altered the image only slightly to show the support I have for these trees. They are to me (the woman and a girl in the background) me and mt daughter Zoe. / I have wanted to animate these two women so that I can make a statement about saving the rainforest. If you know anyone skilled in doing this, I have a great script to follow and hopefully put it on television as our rainforest is being destroyed by forest industries and now, global warming. I see the forest as a female enturty, a nurturer of life.

Here you can see the top of market place that’s somewhat getting on, I liked this angle because it frames this market place in complete contrast with the flashy, colourful new Docklands development going on behind. I would have taken a photo from the inside, but it’s been blocked off since my last visit! I can never remember the market place’s name, so if anybody has a clue I’d appreciate it.
