La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

Watercolour / Origina Sold / Full sheet Arches 300gsm (stretched with nail gun) Based on a photo of people viewing the construction taking place in Ground Zero. The viewing platform, inside the American Express Building, was originally a marble wall but was replaced with glass when the building was repaired after 9/11 so that people could come and view the area. The people were respectfully quiet as they look on as the site was being rebuilt.

Just love the direction Melbourne is taking in its cityscape and we owe it all to these majestic cranes. Thought I’d document their existence, hopefully in an aesthetic way, as they too provide great visuals within themselves as well as the work they do.

From a local construction site a friend works on. I was actually there to take a few pics of the 200t crane loading wall panels, but they’re so slow! So I went exploring.

Model – the lovely Lauren Vickers. / This girl is seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. And for a sydney mainstream model that’s just plain unheard of ; ) MUA/Hair – Becca + Jacxx @ Prophecy Makeup A total fluke shot, we were walking back from the location and we passed through Waymouth Street in the city where they were doing construction on the street. The guys were already gobsmacked, so I simply asked and they were more than happy to oblige. / It was funny though, they all pulled out their phones and started taking photos of us, because they said their mates would never believe them otherwise. / Thanks boys, you guys rule.
