  • La Rue Obscure
    by Christophe Testi

    US$4.99–US$114.00

La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

Sunset in Bridlington, North Yorkshire, England / Nikon D60

  • This image was taken on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the Amex Building in New York. People were drawn to the view of the rebuilding of Ground Zero and were speaking so softly or not at all out of respect for the devestation that took place here. Concurrent to the silent viewing is the incredible acitivity of rebuilding taking place in the area itself. Originally the glass wall seen here was opaque (marble, i think) but when the repairs were made to the building the marble was removed so that people could view ground zero. I think it helped people feel as though they could connect a little with what had taken place.

Ragman has put together some journals covering some basics of doing it right when it comes to art/photography. Here are some of the excerpts from his up-coming book. Very worthwhile reading, for everyone, IMHO! I’ll add this to my list of handy tips and tricks, so it’s easy to find from my profile page. Background Information: / A wind turbine is a rotating machine which converts the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used directly by machinery, such as a pump or grinding stones, the machine is usually called a windmill. If the mechanical energy is then converted to electricity, the machine is called a wind generator, wind turbine, wind power unit (WPU), wind energy converter (WEC),or aerogenerator. This article discusses electric power generation machinery. Windmill discusses machines used for grain-grinding, water pumping, etc. The article on wind power describes turbine placement, economics and public concerns. The wind energy section of that article describes the distribution of wind energy over time, and how that affects wind-turbine design. See environmental concerns with electricity generation for discussion of environmental problems with wind-energy production. • Kirrawee Track Works
    by alexkess

    US$6.65–US$152.00

This is the first shot that I have posted in a while. It is also the first one I took with my new D700. It is a shot of a Train passing the current track works at Kirrawee Station. They are doubling the tracks. Theses works have been going on for a while now and I think they have also gone over budget quite substantially. Hope you enjoy the image. Cheers, Alex alexkess.com

  • Beach works...
    by Alistair Wilson

    US$4.66–US$106.40

A drainage pipe leeking at sunset on the Sandringham foreshore. This area is being renourished by Bayside City Council to help stabilise the foreshore cliffs which are being eroded by wave action and stormwater emanating from the car park above. As soon as I took this photo the guys on the constuction equipment came over and started working on it maybe because of the low tide. Taken with my Canon 40D and 10-22mm wide angle lens with Polarising, Grad and ND4 Cokin Filters. Didn’t really have to do anything to the photo apart from remove some spots, I think it’s time for a sensor clean!
