  • La Rue Obscure is the oldest street in the old town of Villefranche sur Mer on the French Riviera, between Nice and Monaco. It was built on virgin soil at the beginning of the 13th century. La Rue Obscure formed the basis of the rest of the town’s construction on the slopes rising from this coastal lane. It gave inhabitants of the town certain refuge against possible attacks. The ship captains who were forced by storms to anchor in the bay, could make necessary repairs in safety. La Rue Obscure also welcomed precious merchandise, such as wine, in its cellars.

  • A lego reconstruction of the famous 1932 photograph taken by Charles Ebbets.

  • This image was taken on the 2nd or 3rd floor of the Amex Building in New York. People were drawn to the view of the rebuilding of Ground Zero and were speaking so softly. Concurrent to the silent viewing is the incredible acitivity of rebuilding taking place in the area itself. Originally the glass wall seen here was opaque (marble, i think) but when the repairs were made to the building the marble was removed so that people could view Ground Zero. Shot taken with my little digital camera that i have since lost!

  • Watercolour / Original Sold, Oct 08. / Full sheet Arches 300gsm (stretched with nail gun) Based on a photo of people viewing the construction taking place in Ground Zero. The viewing platform, inside the American Express Building, was originally a marble wall but was replaced with glass when the building was repaired after 9/11 so that people could come and view the area. The people were respectfully quiet as they look on as the site was being rebuilt.

Ragman has put together some journals covering some basics of doing it right when it comes to art/photography. Here are some of the excerpts from his up-coming book. Very worthwhile reading, for everyone, IMHO! I’ll add this to my list of handy tips and tricks, so it’s easy to find from my profile page. • Berlin is “The biggest construction site in the world”... International investors and real estate sharks scent in Berlin big business. The opportunity is unique: Never before has an entire capitol been sold and built again. The prices are rising and rising – but the one billion projects are not making progress. The first speculation is out of money. A wave of bankruptcies threatens… This was a quote from “Spiegel” in 1992… Did something change since then?... Berlin is still a big construction site and we still live in a period of transition... We’ve just became accustomed to it… This photo was taken 2009 in Berlin Mitte, at the bridge near the Museumsinsel (Museum Island)...

  • I was at Disney world’s Animal Kingdom, admiring the perfection of the artificial natural environment they created. I began to wonder what it would look like if all nature was maintained the same way, as I pondered this I created Low Tide to capture the idea of fusing the natural and man made world. This image was created using 2 popular 3D software programs. Vue and Poser. The image was made up with multiple renders and assembled in Photoshop. The image contains over 100 individually posed figures and took 6 months to complete.
