If the work is quality, you can increase the price on your cards, either individually or as a pack. But never drop the retail value. That’s like dropping your standards. Jo said: / Recently I bought a bunch of RedBubble cards and gave them all to friends. The response was amazing. They all got online to find more! Next step for me is to buy a bunch of my own cards and find excuses to give them to people. I did this with my recent purchases . / I only bought 30 of my cards. Gave 4 to close friends as gifts. Then my friends bought my stock within a few minutes. Thankfully I had enough remaining for family! I plan to purchase about 100 more … just before Christmas! Wherever I meet friends and family .. I promote my work. You are correct … with an ABN, a stamped receipt book, a stack of business cards … we become business people. Jo also has a great idea to pack each card in plastic for retail presentation, plus a great way to convince retailers to take some stock for their shop! I’m working on an idea for putting framed works in local eateries/cafés, so Jo OBrien has provided very good reading !

I notice the heading in My Bubble now says “journal” but I am still invited to “write in my blog” or “add a new blog post” and I still have “Blog Posts” in “My Blog”. / Journal is so much classier than “Blog”, could we change it all to “journal” please?

To go along with my new shirt, I’ve been redesigning my online presence. I’ve tried my best to make by blog and my myspace profiles consistent in colour and design. I also plan to construct a legitimate website that isn’t merely hosted by a free blog service. Eventually I hope to be able to have people click back and forth between them and still feel like they are in the same place. I don’t know if this is at all possible, but I think it would be cool. Here is a side by side comparison of my blog and my myspace page. I think I did pretty well at getting them to look the same (especially considering the rings you have jump through to do anything with myspace). Unfortunately for Facebook there is no possibility of doing anything like this so I’ll just have to be happy with my ‘Red Bubble Portfolio’ widget.

  • Inspired by Damien Mason’s idea I’ve extended my already extensive online presence to include a Facebook Page… whatever the hell that is. So then, please, I’m begging you – fan me up! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Paul-Sells-Shirts/26900113928 Maybe I’ll even return the courtesy… like that movie with the kid who gets people to pass on good deeds, and then he gets stabbed to death.

Civil wars are most a necessity to whence they are dealt with in a civil manner. Leisure cannot be forsakened nor labor wasted, in vain doth it harbor many consecutive uses, in talent hath it shown the very balence that effort creates in an inhibited enviroment. What seems to matter in the ideak of some other, is something of an objective rendered useless and may not be of any importance in the eyes and orbs of some other; and is something not the case as casual as yours. / Vanity is never an obstacle unto therefore where the person takes extra care in his or her character, raising assumptions like the waves and the very frothy depths of the sea is to be careless, clumsy, ill at ease.

(taken at one of my new spots) About - ISO 100, f22, 1/60, 10mm / - Coken P121 (ND 8) / - Saturation enhancement of blue sky A drought is an extended period of months or years when a region notes a deficiency in its water supply. Generally, this occurs when a region receives consistently below average precipitation. It can have a substantial impact on the ecosystem and agriculture of the affected region. Although droughts can persist for several years, even a short, intense drought can cause significant damage and harm the local economy. This global phenomenon has a widespread impact on agriculture.

When you join a group, and you get it in your head what it’s about, and then, later on you go to post something to it, and it gets rejected; so, you go to look to see how you could have been so off in your judgment, only to find that the group has completely changed its description and/or rules. ahem Beige is death: I wonder who I could be talking about. For the record, I believe that a weird arsed digital painting of a woman jumping through the air as if she’s gone off the edge of her sanity and straight into something even Alice would have blinked at, and is planning on kicking the shite out of it, is, perhaps, edgy enough to qualify, even so. However, I am no longer interested, because I joined one group and ended up in another, and not through any machinations of my own. I need some sort of consistency in my life, somewhere, and it may as well be here.

So, being the really stupid bugger that I am, I could not “switch off” thinking about these issues even while I was “switched off” the net. Did manage to do SOME of my own work, but even that process was filled with “what on earth is going on on RB” ridiculous thoughts… The main issue that was central to my thoughts was the completely new addition to the “RB rules and guidelines” – the addition of an “appeals process’. In fact, the addition of an appeals process is an excellent thing, and must contribute constructively to the functioning of any grouping of people, be it a classroom, an organisation, or a society governed by law. My unfortunately obsessive rumination was, however, primarily on the issue of how would this new appeals process impact on the core problem here at RB at this time – the PERCEPTION in the community that the rules and guidelines have been – and are – commonly applied unfairly and inconsistently. My conclusion to this question now turns out to be that the addition of an appeals process will have NO EFFECT WHATSOEVER on the PERCEPTION in the community that rules and guidelines may continue to be applied unfairly and inconsistently. I have been forced to accept this conclusion as, for the new appeals process to even be invoked, there MUST HAVE ALREADY TAKEN PLACE AN APPLICATION OF THE RULES AND GUIDELINES THAT IS PERCEIVED TO BE UNFAIR AND/OR INCONSISTENT! Super duper BIG bummer :p I am NOT happy to have come to this conclusion at all!!! I am quite sure from the general tone in the many community and group forums I have visited of late that many, if not most, members of this community want it to be able to continue to be the safe and robust artists’ community it has come to be. I certainly do! However, if many members of this community are left with the PERCEPTION that the rules and guidelines under which they are expected to operate in the publication of their work and their discussion of their motives etc in creating it MAY be applied in an unforseeable way, there can be no sense of safety and surety in their participation in this community with their art and ideas! I cannot imagine the prospect of having to participate in what may be an incredibly stressful process of review of ones behaviour and art being at all reassuring in the event that a member of this community already feels they have been wronged by an unfair or inconsistent application of “the rules”. As I already wrote – “super duper BIG bummer!” I am extremely glad that I am NOT a member of RB management. I am still quite convinced that the perception of unfairness and inconsistency in the application of the rules to date has most likely been strongly impacted by the HUGE growth of RB, and a resulting stressed and overstretched workforce that does not have the time or resources to investigate all reports and complaints sufficiently to make consistent judgements on them. I have seen this exact same thing happen in other workplaces. If I am totally wrong in this – it would be most useful to have a public reassurance of this from RB management…... I do not believe that ANYONE in RB management and/or admin etc WANTS to be in this current situation. I am SURE that everyone WANTS to be able to apply whatever behaviour rules and guidelines are set as fairly and justly as possible. This is why I conclude that there must be some factor (most likely that I mentioned above) that means this has NOT been possible. So – how to fix???? Damn – if I knew, I’d tell you straight off as fast as I could!!! My only “idea” relates to doing a little ‘going backward’ and righting the perceived wrongs that have taken place. That is – allowing BACK, UNCONDITIONALLY, ALL those whose accounts were unfairly deleted since the confusion re rules and guidelines began in February. Then, judging their behaviour as members of this community under any new rules and guidelines exactly the same as all other members. That would be a clearly fair and ethical act and I am sure would do MUCH in restoring the faith of the community in the goodwill of management and staff. I am not privy to all the factors impacting and driving the inner workings of RB. I sure hope that someone who IS can figure out a possible way of regaining the RB membership’s trust and PERCEPTION that they will be treated fairly and justly in any dispute better than I, with my limited information, am able. I truly wish everyone in RB management etc all my best in resolving this unfortunate and most distressing mess. Sincerely, / Kallena aka DragonFlyer OK – off to TRY to concentrate on some of my own work again LOL ;)))
