Copyright  2008_CarolineCaux@AlphaShots – All Rights Reserved “Once upon a time, the Bird of Paradise, was going from one garden to the next, looking for a friend! / No one was to be found, and the bird, so saddened by its search was about to,leave and go back to its heights, when, sudenly, hidden behind a rock, he saw ,what looked like a face! / Trying to hide, because the child didnt want to be seen, but, the soft noise, of a cracking branch was heard! / The Bird of Paradise, swiftly turned his magnificient head towards the rock, and was moved to tears by what it saw! / The child lifted his head towards the bird, and was conquered!” April 2008@5.55pm ___ The Strelitzias are a sort of banana tree, with many differant varieties in S.Africa . Its flowers usually appears in Spring and reminds us of the Bird of Paradise! / The bird has always been a symbol of the relationship between Haven and Earth! In whatever culture on this planet. It is the symbol of the soul,and its task is to be the go-between Haven and Earth ! / The union of the souls into fecondity! For the Hopi, the bird can communicate with the Spirits! In the Celtic culture,it is the auxillary between the gods and man. In African Art, birds symbolises power and life! In dreams, birds, symbolises, the dreamer! In Christianity, the Dove and the Eagle, are sublimation of the soul and Messengers of God!

Sometimes the sun has not been given enough time to go down in style. It is chased out of the sky, its light butchered by dark featureless and easy to forget clouds. Not this evening though. In such a wonderful setting and with all the time in the world, at its own pace, it gently covered the whole universe, material and the other one, with its pink warm residue leaving you with an overwhelming feeling of relief and joy. It is often hard to imagine a place like this for us city slickers, with the clock meaningless, space limitless, and your soul miles away from the tension and stress, the main culprits behind the structural damage of our emotional self. Later that night I was carried through sleep on a cushion of wonderful dreams until the sun made its usual roundtrip. Does this surprise you?

This pair of Bald Eagles are our Winter residents at Wind River Ranch, they usually have their offspring to teach them how to fish the Naches River. This photo was inspired by the words of Cherokee Chief “Two Eagles”, who was asked by a white U.S. Government official, “You have observed the white man for 90 years. You’ve seen the wars and his technological advances. You’ve seen his progress, and the damage he’s done.” The chief nodded in agreement. The official continued, “Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?” / The chief stared at the official for over a minute and then calmly replied, / “When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex.” / Then the Chief leaned back and smiled, “Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that.” I was reminded of Chief Two Eagles today, by Elsie Duggan, who forwarded me an email about these wise words spoken and very tough to argue ;) WindOwl / /

You can see the difference from Nick’s shot here which was taken about 4 minutes before this one. And Mel, this is the shot I remembered to use a bit of dodge and burn on.

FEATURED, the ‘Paws n Claws’ group 11/15/2009 / Boo Cat was mom’s flat faced persian cat. / When she had to move in with Marie and I / because of alzheimers, Boo came with her. / Maries and my name for him was ‘Mr Horrid’. / Even with his personality disorder, he / eventually found love. This photo of a bridge was actually taken in Hell! Hell is a small village in Stjørdal, Norway with a population of 352. The name Hell stems from the Old Norse word hellir, which means “overhang”, “cliff cave”. The Norwegian word hell can also mean “luck”.
