  • I SLEEP WITH FRUIT
    by JaneAParis

Although, he may cute / He is crazy / To want an old daisy…

About feeling unattractive and pathetic. About feeling that anyone who would be interested in you must have a gasket loose somewhere in their head. About feeling that you really deserve love afterall the hardship you have had to face, but being afraid to take it.

  • I WONDER WHAT GOD WILL DO
    by JaneAParis

God is all around us, and in us / We are part of God, and God is part of us…

This about everyone being equal in God’s site, love, and grace – men, women and children. We are all children of God. This is also about sexual relationships between men and women. Sex is a gift from God, so that we can connect physically, emotionally, and spirtitually with another human being, and it is really marvelous when it works right, and the connection forms a bond that unites us in the eyes of God. It also speaks to why it is bad to hurt others, there are many reasons but the most important reason not to hurt others is simply that we are all God’s children, we are beloved to God.

  • BUTTERFLY MAN
    by JaneAParis

The butterfly man tells me all of this with glee / How he collects, protects, and displays / He tells me this with his eyes all ablaze / It …

This is about perspective, relationships and power. It is about cages, and whether those cages are good for us or not. It is also about games people play, and hidden fears.

  • A Yogi's Journal - Yoga as Relationship -Relationship as Yoga
    by Paul Reynolds

“A paradox of life is that one is fundamentally alone, yet one cannot exist outside of relationship” – author/yogi -Joel Kramer ...

“A paradox of life is that one is fundamentally alone, yet one cannot exist outside of relationship” – author/yogi -Joel Kramer It is that time of season as we see the petals of spring start to respond to the ever-present calling of the sun and the ‘urge to merge’ is supposedly strongest; it is appropriate to flex the yogic muscles and take on the complex subject of relationship. And how is the subject of relationship supposed to fit into the subject of Hatha Yoga?? There is very little, if anything that is ever said in the yogic texts about the “yoga of relationship” If we agree that much of what we are engaging in our hatha practice are the powers of observation, then perhaps looking at the structures and characteristics that form around these two ideas can give us a hint of their connected-ness. The physical practice of hatha yoga has constructs called ‘asana’ from which we can explore the relationship with self. / The relationship with ‘the other’ is also a construct, a tool that can also be used for self-discovery. But as we look closer many similarities do appear. Inherit in both the dance of hatha yoga and the dance of relationship is the “urge to merge”, mentioned earlier, the desire to feel ‘more complete and whole, the remembering of connection, the remembering of what it is to love and be loved. Both relationship and hatha yoga practice are mirrors that reflect back to us just how we approach or how we ‘walk’ in life. We bring into either construct the goals of; feeling better about ourselves, being happier, being passionate about the way we live, more open, more secure, stronger, more flexible and on a deeper level, to learn more of who we are and why we are here. As we begin our “practices” of relationship or hatha yoga, feelings of excitement, and enthusiasm mix with anxiousness and possibly a little fear. The give and take of these energies is inherent in both. They bring similar questions to the forefront of one’s awareness. “What do I want from this practice/relationship?” / “Is this safe?” / “What am I feeling?” / “Shall I take a risk and move further into this experience?” / “What will I allow in?” / “ To what am I paying attention?” The list of questions may grow and diminish and their answers change daily, even moment-to-moment. In a hatha yoga practice the adjustments of the body to postures and breath take on a similar dynamic. And like in any ‘good’ relationship we are met with challenges, “edges” in the hatha yoga vernacular. In hatha yoga they may be of a physical nature, but can appear as emotional and mental ones as well. / / In relationship the energy of love can provide these types of edges as well, for love does not always equate roses and romance. / The Sufi mystic Hafiz makes the following observation; “Love sometimes gets tired of speaking sweetly / And wants to rip to shreds / All your erroneous notions of truth… / …The Beloved sometimes wants / To do us a great favor: / Hold us upside down / And shake all the nonsense out Indeed, we will experience the depths and the heights of our psycho-physical make-up in both a relationship and a hatha yoga practice. As the relationship or the hatha yoga practice continues a certain familiarity develops. Doing the same asana again and again or being in relationship for a period of time can bring a sense of security, but at the same time this familiarity can appear boring, limiting or predictable. / Hatha yoga, like a relationship can open us to new and vast vistas. And yet it can be a closed, system as set patterns emerge, requiring imagination and creativity as well as the ability to listen to keep the practice or relationship fresh and vital. Again from author/yogi Joel Kramer; / ”But it (relationship) could be open, like a river, which by its nature allows newness to enter and flow through it. A river has a defined form or pattern, yet what’s contained within its form is constantly changing.” / . / Both hatha and relationship are tools to help us to remember our connectedness not just to “the other” or ‘to self’ but to all of our experience. This can be seen as the outgrowth, the discernible manifestation of the indefinable, limitless energy of Love. “May we realize a peace that depends on….nothng” Namaste

  • Manifesto For Pain Management and Self Healing
    by Charissa May Borroff

...It maybe useful to print this out for reference. There’s a lot of helpful stuff here.

It maybe useful to print this out for reference. There’s a lot of stuff here. These implements of healing; #1 ANIMAL RESCUE, #2 CESSATION, #3 IDENTIFY HARMFUL NEGATIVITY, #4 RELAXATION, #5 RESPECT FOR ONESELF, #6 RESPECT FOR ALL LIVING THINGS, #7 PUSHING ONESELF, #8 TRUSTING ONESELF, #9 CONNECT WITH NATURE, #10 CONNECT WITH POSITIVITY, #11 POSITIVE SYMBOLIC MEANING, #12 POSITIVE SYMBOLIC ACTIONS, #13 CONSERVE ENERGY, #14 RECORDING YOUR PROGRESS, When these are activated by meditation, creative work (all of the visual arts, drama, dance, writings, good food, and music) and also by incorperating these tools into everyday life. There is no going back once this journey is started. I need to shine the torch back through the tunnel of pain that I’ve been through. There is a way out. Based on my experience of emotions and health being linked. I have written this manifesto for many reasons. My Manifesto has elements of alternative practices for healing which I see as most benefical and relevent to my healing experience. A simple bit of information can solve a big problem sometimes. Just one little moment of connecting and thinking. As simple as that. It may be placebo but hey it works! I’m dedicated to promoting healing. I’ve taken on recomendations for books from friends and also attended public talks and have taken notes from The Dalai Lama’s visit to Nottingham Arena. I’ve met life coach Fay Hartwell, sound therapist Nicola Kelshall, Mark Graham a druid, a Elaine Mein a hereditory witch, Robert Hawk and Anam Gemma both shamans. I can see that the essential part of healing is firstly about the power of thought and allowing the body to deeply relax to experience soothing sensations. Dealing effectively with negativity and embracing positivity as much as possible will strengthen the connection with the self,. Body and mind. When you suffer terribly it can make you desperatly want to leave the painful body behind to go somewhere peaceful. All of the genuine alternative healing practicioners work with the intention to get you to feel happy and safe in your own skin again. The experience of a painful illness is a traumatic and powerful thing. The mind is a powerful thing and needs powerful positive experiences to communicate the intention to heal. Nothing to do with hippy dippy mumbo jumbo but a practical intentional management of the mind and body. Things like sensation, visualization, compassion and intention are essential componants of a positive healing medicine. This manifesto works to supply some key suggestions of going about guiding the power of thought to concentrate on healing. This is the foundation of which I base my therapeutic creative artwork sessions on. But also to record what I have found useful to myself and act as a reminder. I hope you feel like printing this out and keeping as a guide so that you can find empowerment and help in this too. Please contact me if you have any questions.

  • View of Mauna Kahalewai, the West Maui mountains from Ulupalakua. / I took this shot from the passenger window of a moving vehicle as Jacob and I were driving to Kana’io. The West Maui Mountains or West Maui Volcano, known to the Hawaiians as Mauna Kahalawai and Hale Mahina form a much eroded shield volcano that constitutes the western one-quarter of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. The port of Lāhainā lies on the southwestern slope. / The wildlife sanctuaries and wetlands of Mauna Kahalewai are very beautiful. O ‘Iao Valley is covered in dense rainforest and is one of the wettest rainiest spots on earth. This area of the island receives an average of over 400 inches of rain each year The Hawaiian name for the mountains is “Kahalewai”, meaning House of Water. Another name is Hale Mahina meaning House of the Moon. It is believed that these mountains are named for the Goddess Hina of the Moon. Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Mauna Kahalewai “The East Maui mountains ancient name is Aheleakala [A-hele-a-ka-la]. The Western name is Haleakala means House of the Sun, named for the Sun God, La, and quite possibly named after the demi-god Maui-akalana, who slowed down the sun. More can be read about Maui in the ancient Hawaiian genealogical chant, Kumulipo Iao Valley is the most famous valley of this mountain range. The West Maui mountains are the second wettest spot in the world at 400 inches of rain per year. It is said that somewhere in Kahalewai there is a deep cavern filled with water and a passage way connected with the water cave. The West Maui Mountains or West Maui Volcano, known to the Hawaiians as Mauna Kahalewai, form a much eroded shield volcano that constitutes the western one-quarter of the Hawaiian Island of Maui. Kanaka Maoli are the Polynesian peoples of the Hawaiian Islands who trace their ancestry back to Marquesan and possibly Tahitian settlers (starting circa AD 400), precontact 1778. A shield volcano is a large volcano with shallowly-sloping sides. / The high point of the West Maui Volcano is Pu’u Kukui at 5,788 feet. The island of Maui is one of a chain of volcanoes and ancient underwater seamounts stretching nearly to the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. The Hawaiian Islands and Emperor Seamounts were all formed by a hot spot in the earth’s mantle erupting onto the ocean floor and building massive shield volcanoes that would sometimes break the surface. Maui is the second youngest island in the Hawaiian Islands and consists of two volcanoes in the chain It is thought that West Maui Volcano was born 2 million years ago. It is now extinct and has begun the slow process of subsiding and eroding back into the sea. Haleakala is about a million years younger than its neighbor and is still considered active having erupted at least 10 times in the last 1000 years. However, it has entered the last phase of its life as a growing mountain, a last gasp rejuvenated phase that all Hawaiian volcanoes enter before they go extinct forever. Approximately 400,000 years ago Maui was much larger than it is today. Usually referred to as Maui Nui (“Big Maui”) it was made up of present day Maui, Moloka’i, Lana’i, and Kaho’olawe and was larger than the present day big island of Hawai’i. The subsiding of the island led to the separation of Moloka’i and Lana’i from Maui and Kaho’olawe about 300,000 years ago. About 150,000 years ago Lana’i and Moloka’i separated as did Kaho’olawe and Maui. It is thought that only 15,000 years remain before West Maui and East Maui (Haleakala) are split into two islands.
