My favorite band Avenged Sevenfold at the very end of their set. / They were the headlining band at How the Edge Stole Christmas – Night 2 on December 15, 2007. / Avenged Sevenfold is a metal/hard rock band (for those who don’t know) and you can get think through what they’re wearing, and the obvious international “rock on” hand / One of their best songs, Unholy Confessions, was the song they ended with. / At the end of the song, during the last main riff (which is when your blood is pumping, adrenaline rushing through your body, VERY intense part of the song) smoke starts flowing and on a big down beat at the peak of intesity confetti shot out and everyone went insane / luckily I was able to get that shot after I nearly passed out from screaming along with the song and going total ape sh*t when the confetti went off =]

I got this idea from a great square design called Squares of Summer, posted by Pentangled. I wanted to order a mounted print, drill a hole in it, and add hands and a clock mechanism, available at most craft stores. I may yet do that, but meanwhile I thought what a cool idea. Any square picture could be made into a clock … doesn’t even really have to be square, for that matter, but the board material that RB uses for mounted prints (and probably the canvas prints as well, only I’ve not ordered any so do not know from experience) is certainly sturdy enough to support a clock mechanism. The only other thing to do would be to add a simple box frame (it could be wood or even cardboard) to the back to hold the piece far enough from the wall. / / So. That said, I figured why not start the ball rolling with a clock offering of my own. If you don’t want to put hands on it, it would still be a fun wall hanging, / / Other clocks: /

I often take photographs of tree graffiti because of the collective messages that are communicated through symbols by a diverse population. I have found many trees in forests and cities that communicate poignant feelings and thoughts that result in a shared artistic experience. The images and written content are fascinating to view individually and as a collective effort. Each piece is a symbolic shorthand that is viewed in urban and natural settings. This is the first piece I have photographed that is not tree graffiti since murals are also a form of public art. There are many artistic renderings in Los Angeles on the streets, freeways and on buildings. This vast array of images were on a building and I shot it spontaneously not knowing where it would take me. After working with these images I became fascinated. I expermented by adding color, depth and enhancing the icons to the point that the piece transformed into a very different mural. I added confetti streamers and enhanced one image that appears to be a red devil in a lively environment on the right. The large orange circle is open to interpretation by the viewer. My first impression was of a setting sun that also could be a ferris wheel in a devilish amusement park. Have fun with this one. The more you look, the better it gets.

Taken in Aranjuez, a little town approximately 45 minutes outside of Madrid. I had just completed my visit of the Palacio Real and was walking aimlessly through this sleepy town. I noticed from afar that there was a gathering at the Real Iglesia de San Antonio, which is preceded by an enormous square and presumed it was a wedding. From that distance it was difficult to tell. It was only when I was making my way back towards the train station that I actually visited the site of this beautiful church and realized that the rose petals, rice and confetti were still on the stoop. The smell of rose petals was absolutely beautiful. Such a shame that so many churches no longer allow you to throw rose petals or rice because of the hassle of clean up.
