Yesterday was the second anniversary of the day Darlene and I met. I wrote a short poem on the spot yesterday for her. I liked it so much that I decided to expand on it and share it with the redbubble community. I also created T-shirts with the title. The poem is called It’s Because Of You I hope you enjoy this poem as much as I enjoyed writing it. Thanks for looking.

  • In the bottom left corner of the image, the two doors you see there are the confessional booths, and still around the walls here you can see squares of bare brickwork where something has been stolen from the wall, Im really surprised these were taken but the marble of the altars has been left intact.

  • It seemed that most every space was thoughtfully employed as part of the setting for worship in this Greek Orthodox Church on Mykonos. The main room was fairly small and the faithful, we were told, stand during the ceremonies and rites performed regularly here. The walk up to its aerie like perch was heartening and the view across the sea breathtaking. The sacrament of confession also had its ornate, but small place in the midst of the church.

  • poem text: Life, hope, they conquer death, generally, always; / and if the steamroller goes over the flower, the flower dies. / Some are more solid earth; they stood in lines, / blouse and helmet, a creamy de luxe sky-blue— / their music, savage and ephemeral. ... / After five nights of Chicago: police and mob, / I am so tired and had, clichés are wisdom, / the clichés of paranoia. On this shore, / the fall of the high tide waves is a straggling, joshing / march of soldiers … on the march for me. ... / How slender and graceful, the double line of trees, / how slender, graceful, irregular and underweight, / the young in black folk-fire circles below the trees— / under their bodies, the green grass turns to hay.
