  • Confederate Guerilla
    by Cleburnus

    US$3.42–US$91.20

Pomp Kersey, a terrorist or a hero depending on which side of the American Civil War you were on. This lad died at the hands of a Union officer who he had danced with while posing as a woman the night before. He was tracked to his hideout near Short Mountain by a torn bag of oats. His group of guerrillas was named the Short Mountain Bushwhackers. Unionist families lived in terror of this gang of teenagers armed to the teeth with no law other than their own. He and some of his relatives deserted the Confederate Army to ply their form of vengeance in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee. I suppose the only difference today is in the technology of the weapons and the mode of transportation. Buried in Cannon County Tennessee near his homestead after having his body on display in Liberty Tennessee for the Unionists to see for over a week.
