  • decided to shoot this in blk and white, wanted the old train effect w/ the conductor cleaning the engine. this was shot in dollywood in pigeon forge tennessee

  • As she lies dormant in the yard, this huge engine fills the mind with images of sweat and toil on the railroads of yesteryear

  • This duck really put on a performance as I was photographing it. He reminded me of a music conductor in charge of a beautiful symphony orchestra, hence the name, Maestro.

  • Hand drawn, Prisma colored pencils

  • This was taken at the same place as ‘boy alone’. I wanted to put it up because it really makes me smile and feel happy at the sheer lack on inhibition some children have – this is Abe being a conductor and singing his heart out – totally nuts!!!!! I admire this as i am and was as a child very self-conscious – so this is my tribute to those who are free-spirited!!! / (I have also put it up to put on my calender :0)) * /

  • It is not easy to photograph a concert band in performance, especially from the front where all you see are the musicians hidden behind their music scores on music stands. Oh heck! I decided to make the best of the situation and photograph just that – a musician hidden behind his music scores. Or, in this case, behind his red folder holding his music scores. What a delightful image it turned out to be as I managed to catch him just as he was keeping an eye on the conductor. Image taken at a performance by the Singapore American School Jazz Ensemble. The Esplanade. 8 December 2008. —

  • Hand drawn, Prisma colored pencils / From the Insect Orchestra. This is the finished product from earlier collages. i realized, that Gladys the Bedbug was waaaay too huge, she is living in a human household & must be Bug size, lol. For my book which is still in progress

  • For the card version. Hand drawn, Prisma colored pencils. The close up of Gladys the orchestra’s maid conveying bad news to Hugo the conductor. Scorpionfly Ludmilla hurries by to get to rehearsals

  • A brief glimpse of diffused sunlight peeping through thick cloud caught my attention at the Australian International Air Show this year. I had to sprint to take this shot of a Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter, to utilise the light conditions before they deteriorated any further. I was able to stand on tiptoe to shoot above the heads of other patrons. Because I was using my long lens (a 70-300mm Sigma) I was able to compose a very tight frame with the cockpit canopy and the setting sun in perfect alignment. The fighter is also called the Lightning in honour of the US-built World War II-era fighter, the P-38 Lightning. I also seem to recall that one of the names under discussion was the Spitfire II, after the famous British fighter created by Reginald Mitchell. It’s always great to have a flash of Lightning at sunset. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my work in any way. This was shot with a Pentax K100D, F9.5, 1/500 sec, ISO 200, focal length 120mm.

  • Copyright © 2009 Linda Apple / “Electrifying Conductor” / approx. 12 inches high / Weird Family Series We all have a few “Skeletons” in the closet. Well, mine are not really skeletons but they are certainly in the strange and weird category. / This is Alfred Dobbins (often known as AC-DC). Like Betty Bunny, he comes around at this time of the year and he is well known for his eerie sounds and haunting music created by his electric personality. AC-DC is mixed media. Cloth over structure recycled cardboard, Aves apoxey head and arms. He moves around on old wood wheels supported by clothes pins. Colored recycled wire hair and a baton with electrical connector. Wire mesh goatee.

  • (5×7 Mixed Media on Crdstock) A tribute to the most important member of an orchestra cause they can’t conduct themselves(lol) I used antique-looking paper as the background then used a clipart of a conductors hand holding a Baton then suurounded it w/clipart of people playing various instruments. I used deco scissors for the edges & a Sharpie pen to color emphasize them. Play On!

  • Photograph of two pocket watches once owned by my wife’s grandfather, who was a passenger train conductor, resting upon a pair of engineers overalls. One of these watches dates to just after 1900.
