  • Do Not Condemn my Friends for Being Gay

This letter was written to CJ ( a religious fanatic that believes homosexuality is a sin), at the request of a friend of mine who is gay and was judged and condemned for their life-style. A word to the wise: I do not tolerate mean people; I can be mean right back. And he who would condemn my friends will soon discover that I am a strong advocate for the cause of my friends. If you are a Christian—and believe in live and let live, I recommend that you don’t read this letter, lest you find the possibility of your faith being compromised. If on the other hand you know someone that is gay, and has likewise been condemned by a fanatic that strongly believes homosexuality is a sin—or that you yourself are gay and have found yourself likewise condemned because of the fanatical belief structures of others, I invite you to read this and share my words with the condemning party. On the other hand if you strongly believe that homosexuality is a sin, and it is your God-given right to condemn others for being gay, then this work should be right up your alley… I pull NO punches. If in fact the Bible is the infallible word of God, then we need to ask ourselves if God is truly infallible; after all, it was God that created sin inadvertently when he supposedly created Satan-a blind man could see the folly in that equation. Or are we to believe that God was not in fact perfect enough to recognize that nothing good would come from creating an angel that would one day have to be cast down from heaven, so that God in turn could blame all of his mistakes on? / / It would seem to me that God’s sense of morality is skewed. This is revealed when God asks Abraham to offer up his son Isaac as a burnt offering, and then turns around and says-in not so many words, “Just kidding! I was testing your faith Abraham; because apparently I am not as perfect as you give me credit for, and could not tell that you would in fact cremate your son for my sake. But later, I will do something even funnier than that; I will kill-oops, so sorry-I will allow Satan to kill Job’s family, destroy his crops, and his livestock, and fill his ass full of boils, because-and here’s the real funny part-I made a bet with Satan; that’s right, I felt the need to prove something to the angel that I cast down from heaven by tormenting and literally destroying the life of he who was the most faithful to me! Isn’t that funny? But I will do one even better than that; I will take a man that I profess to be my only begotten Son and have him humiliated and brutalized, then hang him naked on a cross with a crown of thorns on his head to-of all things-prove my love for the world!!” / / If man did this he would be recognized as psychotic; when God does it, it is an act of divinity. / / God takes all of the credit for the good, and no responsibility for the evil that he inadvertently created. / / And every culmination of God’s glory has to come with a blood sacrifice; what?- is God a barbarian? AND a psychotic? / / In the Old Testament men of God destroyed cities of the infidels-killing women AND children, and saving the virgins for sport. Sounds like someone I want to hit my knees for in worship. / / And just in case you missed it, if homosexuality is an abomination in the sight of God, then why is it that we are not stoning to death all of the unruly children? And what about shellfish? Isn’t the eating of shellfish an abomination as well? / / As for Paul, well I hate to bring this to your attention, but what does it say about the nature of a man that has no interest in women, but surrounds himself with young men?-What exactly was that thorn of the flesh that Paul was trying to rid himself of, that he felt the need to be hung upside down on a cross for his own crucifixion? / / Don’t try and answer that because the Bible is not in fact infallible; or how do we account for the wondrous prayer that Jesus offered in the Garden of Gethsemane? The same prayer that no one heard, because no one could stay awake and wait with Jesus. Then who-for crying out loud, heard the prayer and knows what was said? Did the Romans hear it, and say, “Hey-ya’know, this is good stuff, someone needs to be writing this down?” / / Believe what you want to CJ, and be comforted. But just because the masses believe that something is true, doesn’t make it the case; after all it was the masses that sent Jesus to the cross-if in fact the man ever existed at all; and can you prove this? / / Buddha fasted in the wilderness for forty days as well; centuries before Jesus came along; so who was copying whom? / / And while you hide behind God and justify your actions with scriptures, just remember, I am not the one saying that the prejudice-who are in fact unruly-should be stoned to death; rather I am suggesting that they try to exhibit a little more kindness toward people that they don’t understand; or is this truly their nature and by virtue, the reflection of the God that you worship? / / You try to frighten me with the aspect of going to hell? Living on this planet with people who are as shallow-minded as you, who are obviously incapable of thinking outside the box-who condemn homosexuals because the Old Testament said that it was an abomination for a man to lie with another man (should I therefore stone unruly children, or do we toss that out along with the eating of shellfish, because it is convenient and justifies your prejudicial nature of what you believe to be righteous?)-you try to frighten me with hell, while you put me in it with your vagaries of truth and prejudice!! You would just as soon take away any rights to Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness, that I may have because you interpret it to be an enmity between you and God. / / Why don’t you grow up, and start thinking for yourself? / Prejudice is as useful as neglect. And worse, because it leads toward hate-crimes. / / Until you can see past the justification of your own vagaries, what have I to do with you? And while were on the subject, why would I have any interest in a God that would slaughter his own Son for his glory and “love for the world”?; He may as well have me nail my favorite cat to my door, it makes about as much sense. / / And last, but assuredly not least; everyone loves Christmas; the wonderful celebration of the birth of Jesus. But how many babies were slaughtered that night by Herod while he was looking for the Christ—something that seems to be strongly overlooked every holiday, as we think about that quiet babe lying in the manger. / / So go ahead and rebuke me and justify yourself by saying “God bless” as you do so; go ahead and think with someone else’s mind besides your own; and forget all about the parent’s that lost the first-borns during those nights Herod was looking for the Christ, all for the glory of God!! Hell, they could always have more, right?

Sonnet No. 116 Let me not to the marriage of true minds / Admit impediments, love is not love / Which alters when it alteration finds / Or bends with the remover to remove. / O no, it is an ever-fixed mark / That looks on tempests and is never shaken; / It is the star to every wand’ring bark, / Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken. / Love’s not Times’ fool, though rosy lips and cheeks / Within his bending sickle’s compass come, / Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, / But bears it out even to the edge of doom: / If this be error and upon me proved, / I never writ, nor no man ever loved. William Shakespeare
